Joe Dub - Pooretry CD
Joe Dub - Pooretry CD

hella late, but..., April 30, 2015

Copped this CD some years back and only after checking for more Dub releases did I realize I never put it out there just how fucking dope this CD was/is. I love this album. As EVS's excellent review points out, Joe is really at the top of his game here. Sadly, I haven't found any recent material from him. It sucks that he isn't recognized more for being the talented emcee/producer that he is. Whether you were a Joe Dub fan before or not cop this cd. This is some of his best work right here.

The Dino-5 - Baby Loves Hip Hop CD
The Dino-5 - Baby Loves Hip Hop CD

Truly for the chillen, July 31, 2008

From the man that brought you "3 Ft. High and Rising," "Gravediggaz," "Psychoanalysis," "Prince of Thieves" and countless other releases that "pushed the hip hop envelope," comes the Dino 5, a story booked journey (complete with beats and rhymes) to a prehistoric world where young, talking dinosaurs band together to form a hip hop group. The lyrics and beats were masterfully crafted to appeal to preschool listeners, yet remain sophisticated enough for older heads. If the rumors are true that plans are being made to put this concept on Broadway, its not hard to tell why. The music and theme of the album are coherent enough to see the play unfold in your head as if it were right before your eyes. You may not be inclined to bump this in your ride while hitting the nearby cruise spots, but if you have any youngsters in your family that you hang around from time to time, feel free to drop this one in your stereo without any guilt at all.

I'm just waiting for the big book to be released and packaged with the cd. Now that would be killer.

Peace.

The Grouch / Simple Man - Beans & Rice Sampler 2007 CD
The Grouch / Simple Man - Beans & Rice Sampler 2007 CD

Its simple..., October 1, 2007

Beans and Rice, while far from cuisine status, is simply some shit to hold you down till the new Grouch full release comes out. Grouch is my boy and I've never been disappointed with any of his projects, and though I'm not shittin' my pants over this cd, its still pretty fresh. Folks may knock some of the "mainstream" remixes Grouch has used (namely Simple Man), but I think its pretty cool. He's got a new group that's gettin some shine on this cd, but one to two tracks would've been ample exposure. CMA joint "My Chick" might get some hate from Grouch fans, but I think its funny as f@ck. Anyway, if you're a big Grouch fan you might want to check this out. Just keep your expectations reasonable as it is SAMPLER/compilation.

A Success!, October 1, 2007

Third installment in the Extra Credit Series and I'm happy to say that this album is the best one yet. Lucky comes with it. Won't get too in depth, but this album is smooth as hell with just enough boom bap to keep your volume knob workin. Only down side to it is "Nevermind" where the last part of the track just gets down right depressing. Nice beat, PSC's verse rocks, the other cats are just not my flavor.
