|Now on cassette!|
Open Mike Eagle and Serengeti together on one album, to create something creatively absurd and socially poignant.
What a dope collab between a couple like-minded MC's that met a few years back at Southern Illinois University. They are both socially aware and spit deep lyrics but they both can be humorous too.
This is a concept album with the setting being a Florida mixed-income project with both luxury condos and subsidized housing tenants and ''Mike and Dave'' are the handymen that have to deal with the rich and poor and in the process let the stress get to them. I wouldn't expect anything less than a dope concept album from Serengeti after his Kenny Dennis albums where he raps as a grumpy 50 year old Chicago native.
Open Mike spits, ''Feel my nervous, mic my heart-beat/ I write with sharpies like I'm Mike Mcarthy/ Reffing fights between lights and darkies.''. He goes on to kill it on the track ''Zorak'', you have to peep it. One of the standout tracks is ''Wonder Girl'' because of the wavy synths, hard drums and overall beat-on-acid type vibe that it gives off. Serengeti's lyrics on that track are so thought provoking, clever and hard hitting. Great duo!
