Hieroglyphics rapper Casual has teamed up with producer J Rawls for a new album: ''Respect Game or Expect Flames.'' According to a press release, the pairing came about ''organically.'' ''He had a lot of beats that moved my pen,'' said Casual. ''We worked on a couple tracks together and decided that our chemistry warranted an album's worth of material.''
J. Rawls, who has contributed beats to Black Star, J-Live and more, said that he's switching up his signature sound for this release. ''I changed my style a lot for this album... I'm known for having a jazzy sound, but some of these tracks are more edgy. It fits Casual's style and attitude,'' he said.
Casual agrees that the production adds something fresh to his catalog ''This project is different because of the production. J gave me a more universal sound than I've had on any of my past albums,'' he said. | |
