| Producer and all around one-man band Shawn Lee puts out one of his dopest albums ever! Not since teaming up on two albums with Clutchy Hopkins has he been so...how shall I put...hip hop friendly. Known for putting together psychedelic, synthy, funk, made from outdated equipment and various instruments, the multi-talented musician has made a career out of doing music for the love and craft of it. The basis for this brand new album is that he finally got his hands on a ''mystery'' piece of music making equipment dating back probably about 25 years, and allowing for knew sounds and recordings that he'd always been fascinated by but could never fully replicate until now. The album is drummy enough to get your head nodding and upbeat enough to get your toes tapping. It's a less corny version of Fatboy Slim and even Shawn Lee himself for that matter and its really fucking good! I can imagine Trish Keenan (RIP) would have been a perfect partner for Shawn Lee over these beats. | |
