Following that reissue of Awakening, their only other previously released album, In The Basement, is a collection of obscure b-sides and never-released tracks. All the Pharaoh's trademarks are here; R&B fused with the rhythms of Africa and the (other) Americas, futuristic renderings of soul standards (check the Sun Ra influenced ''People Make The World Go Round''), and out-and-out party funk delivered with the assured looseness and horny punch that only the very best funk bands can deliver.
