Here, the self-proclaimed 'art rap' artist finds his shine - combining well-paced rhymes with a melodic pop proclivity. Pronounced ''animal hospital.''
Bottom line, Open Mike Eagle's new album is dope. He's been dope since he first came up and received a lot of acclaim with Thirsty Fish, so it's great to see him as a solo artist as well with his third solo album already. Last year one of our favorite releases was Mike Eagle's ''Rappers Will Die of Natural Causes,'' and since then he has mastered the slow flow, plus his singing is smooth and not forced. Dropping knowledge with humor on topics from our financial crisis, to how to hide your backpack past if you are ashamed. Frequent collaborator/producer Awkward did the beats on the entire album as it is mix of both smooth and glitch-hop sounds. If you ever traveled to outer-space, this would be the album to take on that trip! | |
