Pos & Dave call it ''the soundtrack to a movie that has yet to be made & a fable for our times.'' Officially, it's called ''De La Soul's Plug 1 & Plug 2 Present 'First Serve.'''
At its heart it's a story of two young boys from Queens, New York, with big dreams & larger rhymes. Deen Witter (Dave aka Plug 2) and Jacob 'Pop Life' Barrow (Posdnuos aka Plug 1), friends from the seventh grade, are by their own admission, ''different, but the differences seem to compliment everything we do.'' Their name comes from their motto, ''first come, first serve, get what you deserve.''
Pos & Dave were inspired by the acclaimed French production team, Chokolate & Khalid, to create a hip hop fable, tying songs to true stories where they worked best. The result is a movie on wax of sorts, a high-spirited journey of hip hop rhymes, skits & beats where all the action takes place in a hyper-color, animated world. | |
