| Infectious! That is the best way to describe this latest album from North Carolina producer Machine Drum. You might have to already be into electronic or instrumental-only beat type stuff to get into this, but on every track he gets the job done, and elsewhere I read that this was considered trance but I beg to differ. By the end of the day I'm replaying these beats in my head like an endless game of Pong bouncing back and forth from one side of mind to the other. So when something gets stuck in your head as much as this then that's a good sign. If you like Flying Lotus, then think of his more ''electronic-y'' moments like the Pattern Grid World EP with the softer sounds of Teebs and the abstractness of Aphex Twin and the ambiance of Boards of Canada. Hopefully we haven't lost you with those comparisons, but basically the mood is a fast paced mellowness that will have you nodding your head slightly faster than usual but enjoying every moment. | |
