| Zion I's seventh full length album follows up last year's The Takeover, which is fair to say, was met with mixed reviews, but an experimental piece on their part and usually that's the way it goes when you do something like that. On Atomic Clock, Zumbi and Amp Live take a reggae/dub influenced approach, showing their love and admiration for the genre and even incorporating a live band for much of the album. But fear not, the legendary Oakland duo is still grounded in hip hop as evidenced by Zumbi's lyrics Amp Lives beats. Additionally, Amp Live would create the blueprint of the beats before collaborating with the live musicians to complement the sound and, in certain cases, redo the track live in day long sessions. No matter how it's going to be received by fans, the efforts they make to continue to evolve as a group is to reach as many new heads as possible, and you feel it on the album that Zumbi truly believes the planet's clock is ticking. Next up in 2011, a brand new Zion I and Grouch album!
