Stones Throw releases an anthology of rare & unreleased 1982-1986 recordings from The J.B.'s drummer and creator of ''the Granddaddy of all House Records.'' Unearthed and a few remixed from Peanut Butter Wolf. James Brown discovered Cook in 1973, he went on to become his lead drummer in 1976 and maintained that position with the Godfather of Soul for the next 30 years until Brown passed away. In the early 80's Cook moved to London and began producing and found himself unintentionally blending genres like funk and disco and stumbling upon what some would later coin as House. ''On The Floor'' was being tweaked and Cook's intention was to make it and many other of the recordings found on Back To Reality a rap record. If you ever wondered where people like Dam-Funk and James Pants might have gotten some of their inspiration this would be a good starting place! Retro electro funk and boogie!
