DESCRIPTION
Long awaited re-issue on vinyl of this mid-90's classic! Bronx duo Geechi Suede and Sonny Cheeba dropped Uptown Saturday Night after two successful singles received major play (''Coolie High'' and ''Luchini aka This Is It'') in a time of uncertainty in hip hop as many noticed a change brewing in the air. Their style echoed the best of the early 90's with production by Ski Beatz, and even boasted guests like Trugoy of De La and Butterfly of Digable Planets! Their tribute to an era of funk, soul, and blaxploitation flicks received notice by hip hop fans and other hip hop artists, including Will Smith, who later had them guest appear on his platinum selling album Big Willie Style. They returned in 2002 with Let's Do It Again, but their hiatus proved too long as they were caught somewhere between the new century's sound and fans who wanted them to remain true to their debut. Once one of the most promising groups to emerge from the mid 90's they slipped back into obscurity for another five years until Black Hollywood as they all (including Ski) returned to their throwback sounds and 70's personas. Since being re-embraced by fans they've since released two more albums. So behold the vinyl and get reacquainted with the Lo-uh!

Quality 2xLP repress in 2012 includes 18'' X 24'' poster with original cover art by Dr. Revolt.
