| A little over three years ago a couple of guys from Albuquerque, New Mexico presented me with a little known album called the Geodesians, and it went on to become one of my all time favorite underground albums. Around the same time they had said they were actively working on a new album, and after years of delays it's finally here! True perfectionists, emcee/producer RW (aka Factor B) and DJ/producer P38 are co-founders of the label Manchromatic in which other members of the collective form to create Geodesic. On the Emperor of The South Pole the duo have taken their love of hip hop's elements (they're also talented graff artists) and have combined it with some more personal experiences that have happened since their last album. From in-fighting to break-ups and re-working entire concepts over the course and creation of the album, it's all here. From RW's range of topics including nocturnal graff missions to his favorite 80's cult classic movie American Ninja, and P38's heavy instrumental solos plus the pair utilizes live drums and violin on several tracks, advancing the already talented production, the album is fast paced and meant to feel non-stop, almost like a mixtape as it comes to its close. | |
