| According to Snoop (as part of his Snoop Dogg Approved Uncut Series of classic re-releases) this marked one of the first times an East Coast group's album was embraced by the West Coast most likely due to the heavy focus on using classic funk samples for a more upbeat feel. In 1988 EPMD's Strictly Business took production and lyrics to a new level as hip hop began to break free of its earliest forms and its reputation amongst hip hop historians continues to grow, even cracking lists like Rolling Stones' 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and The Source's Top 100 Hip Hop albums of all time as well.
