DESCRIPTION

How I Got Over takes its name from Clara Ward's gospel classic (made popular by Mahalia Jackson), it is the Roots' first new release since joining Late Night with Jimmy Fallon for a full time gig as the show's house band. It is also their first release since announcing after 2008 that Rising Down would be their last album. The "How I Got Over" single was released over 9 months ago. This new exposure to a much wider audience has no doubt opened up all kinds of opportunities for the veteran Grammy awarding winning group. Combing funk, soul, jazz, indie rock and hip hop the album features a handful of guest appearances including John Legend, Blu, Phonte, and alt-rockers like Dirty Projector and Monsters of Folk.
