DESCRIPTION
Jadakiss worked his way up in the rap scene in the 90's and landed his big break with his group The LOX (with Styles P and Sheek Louch) guest appearing on Notorious B.I.G's Life After Death for the track ''Last Day.'' From there they were featured on other Bad Boy Records albums including Mase's Harlem World on the track ''24hrs To Live'' and probably their most recognizable appearance on ''It's All About The Benjamins'' from Puff Daddy's No Way Out album back in 1997. Eventually this paved the way for their 1998 debut Money, Power and Respect, but after disappointment with the direction their career was headed with Bad Boy, they struggled to be released from their contract with Puffy and eventually found a home that met their hardcore preference with DMX and company in 1999 on Ruff Ryders/Interscope Records for their second album We Are The Streets which dropped in 2000. They later changed their group name to D-Block. Jadakiss went on to appear on many solo guest appearances along with Styles P as they both proved themselves as being just as effective without the rest of the group. In 2001 his debut solo album Kiss The Game Goodbye went on to Gold Status and his sophomore album Kiss of Death went platinum. Jadakiss has always seemed to have walked a fine line on both a commercial standpoint in rap and as a respected lyricist to many in hip hop, perhaps coupled with his success, the lines have been blurred a little but the rapper assures he is all street. The Last Kiss is his first with Def Jam Records and hardly a farewell to the rap game, featuring guest appearances by just about everyone and their mother, including longtime friends and collaborators Styles P and Sheek Louch as well as Nas, Pharrell, Ne- Yo, Busta Rhymes, Faith Evans, Lil Wayne, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Young Jeezy, Mary J. Blige (who is also credited with passing the LOX demo to Puff Daddy in the first place) and production by Swizz Beatz, The Alchemist, The Neptunes, Buckwild (Whuuttt!?) and more.
