Now clocking in at a total of nine (count 'em!) career solo albums, and a follow-up to his 2007 album, Lightning Strikes, Acey drops a second album with producer Bionik! Aceyalone & The Lonely Ones is a tribute to Motown, doo-wop, blues and funk sub-genres that have long inspired the emcee in his musical life, even as it pertains to hip hop. Last time it was an ode to Jamaican music, and for most people it kind of missed the mark, but the themes and big band sound here are just what the doctor ordered for longtime fans and believe works! This is by far one of the most creative albums of the year, and returns rather than forces Aceyalone to explore his experimental side - which he does with ease. I'm sure this would get a heartfelt stamp of approval from many of the greats and legends of the 50's and 60's to whom this album is dedicated!
