Common Market - Tobacco Road CD |
| DESCRIPTION |
| RA Scion and DJ Sabzi (of Blue Scholars) follow up their Black Patch EP and their previous self titled release with Tobacco Road! The Seattle, Washington duo carries on the politically charged themes and content of Sabzi's group Blue Scholars hail from the same region. The two had run into a set back while recording and the album was delayed for over year. RA Scion's lyrics reflect upon his musical influences in relation to his worldly travels, as well as spiritual, his conscious approach to hip hop caught the ear of KRS-One who later took the two on tour with him in 2005. Tobacco road is yet another unique offering from the Pacific Northwest, marking the region as unclassifiable but easily recognizable as true-blue hip hop all the way. Again, it is produced entirely by Sabzi, very jazzy and organic but also different from his work Geologic, who also makes a special guest appearance on the album! | |

Exceeded All Expectations, October 4, 2008 By: B-rad - See all my reviewsWell, what can I say-after lovin' Common Market's first release for past few years, I had high hopes and expectations for the long awaited second album to drop. I love the soulful production, diverse in style and never boring. Ra Scion brings us lyrical themes extremely rich, personal, and totally new-this personal story telling is really heartfelt and has so many parallels to the universal human experience. REAL HIPHOP, tight and fresh...and simply beautiful-actual moved to tears at moments in time somewhere between these dope beats and rhymes. | |
