DESCRIPTION
As hip hop and its pioneers had long credited many music genres as influences and sampling staples, some of the most successful forms and groups have drawn heavily from Jazz music. But it was in the early 90's that the Gang Starr emcee decided to take the idea of the Jazz sample to a new level by incorporating the music itself live with the world's youngest growing genre, Hip Hop. A natural and successful marriage of the two art forms united Jazz musicians with rappers, R&B vocalists and producers for a more grown up sound in a time when hip hop continued to receive criticism for explicit and aggressive content in lyrics and imagery in music videos. 15 Years and 4 Jazzmatazz albums later you can now own and bare witness to some of the best the series has to offer featuring tracks from Bahamadiaa, Lonnie Liston Smith, The Roots, Dee C. Lee, Jamiroquai, and of course DJ Premier and Guru and much much more.
