i know huh.. let's go back.." how far we goin back? way back.. back into time.."

circa '88/'89 give or take a couple years (i wasn't too much into a lot of lyrical east coast shit at this time.. i admit, i was sleepin hard until yo!mtv raps blew up.. mostly bubblegum dance shit, gangster shit, and raunchy booty sex shit.. hey, i was only like 12 years old!)

freaky tales - too short
dopeman/gangsta gangsta - nwa
boyz n tha hood - eazy e
i forgot the name, but that one song by i think mixmaster spade that went "do you wanna go to the liquor stooo and get a 0-8 baby and get a 0-8?"
everlasting bass/supercuts - rodney o and joe cooley
all the ugly people be quiet - cash money and marvelous marv
he's the dj, i'm the rapper/parents just don't understand - jazzy jeff and the fresh prince
sally (that girl) - the gucci crew II
anything by the 2 live crew
jealous fellas - dimples t
supersonice - jj fadd
give it all you got (doggystyle)/just let it go - afro-rican
going back to cali - la la cool jay
push it - salt n peppa
music madness - mantronix
children's story - slick rick
your life's a cartoon - digital underground
ring'em/turn this mutha out - mc hammer
def jef - black 2 the future

my bad.. i think i'm a little off in terms of years.. but oh well rock the bells.

I've used to wonder the same thing. The song is like him rapping pillow-talk to a chick (as usual) while incorporating names of other hiphop acts.. it's gotta have something to do with either chicks or rap. He calls her his pink cookie in one of the verses, so Imma guess the title is just referring to fresh honey-dips that are getting sexually pounded into oblivion.

that's my best guess too.. i didn't like that song.. LL shouldn't try to be abstract. is he trying to say he's like a building?

i posted this on three different boards...My buddy and I were having a discussion about who was listening to who back in the day and yadda yadda yadda...I got bored and wanted to see if anyone else wanted to jump into the discussion...it was a lot more fun without the typing...we got all grinny and nostalgic...but yeah, i wanted to hit more than one crowd...hence the multi-board postin'

I still got A LOT to learn. I give thanks to my teachers and friends who had the passion (the realness) to spread the knowledge to me. I'm lucky to have them. All of this music shouldn't be kept hidden or locked away...

And on some side notes...

Mr. Gunther B has helped me quite a bit.

DJ Drez, Rob Life and Insult2Injury make some of the tightest mixes around. Listen to all of their mix tapes.
