mp3

i've been trippin bout this for ages......

i download mp3's......
without downloading mp3s i never would have knew about LL....
mp3's make $0 for anyone (artist, label, etc.).......
artists like LL say their not in it for the money (UHB, etc)
why, then do they care about people downloading their music...
wouldn't they rather have heads all over the globe loving their shit and be hella broke? instead they want $, i understand they need to eat and have more creative time but it seems a little hypocritical....they wont 'sellout' with labels and shit cos they need full control and freedom with their music but i thouht is was about the music not the $.......

if i was in their shoes i'd probally do the same, but i think mp3s are good, one of the few good aspects of new technology...i'd want to get my music into as many ears as possible "for the love not the salary"...........

but i'd be mega pissed if i was grouch about crusader for justice....you should at least be able to release a finished final product before mp3's of it go up on the net.......

cos i know y'all have downloaded an mp3 or two......i started fellin really gulity for a bit cos it's like stealing but then i just thought: fuck it! So sorry to grouch and the crew but i'm gonna keep downloading songs.........even if i aint cool at least i can still pump a dope beat wit a smile on me face........

thoughts???.............

Like Amanda said, they need to support themselves and their families. I don't see that as hypocritical at all.

Besides, I feel good about spending my money by supporting independent hiphop.

Besides, if you can make money doing what you love, all the better.

I WISH the Legends would get a deal..... they fucking deserve it.

I'm all for mp3's by artists looking to get a name out (myself, etc) but why download music from an artist thats already established and has albums in the store? Support what you like. Consumers should feel obligated as well as the artist.

I agree. I've found out about MANY artists via MP3. I doubt I'd be listening to half the music I do without programs like Napster and such. It's a great way to sample out an album before you pay $14-$18 for it.

hell i wouldnt listen to any music much less hip hop if it werent for MP3 downloading. i'm a teen and i have no money to buy shit and even if i did i wouldnt get a very good perspective on anything because it would limit the amount of music i could hear.

MP3's are the shit i love them. artists dont (captain obvious to the rescue) because they're losing money that is rightfully theirs. theres no reason to say that they're being unreasonable for wanting money for the things they do to deserve money.

i think there is a fine line between dollar signs in the eyes/selling out/bla bla bla and doing it for the love and expecting due amounts of money

It would be nice if the LL albums were available on MP3's to download on this website. If the charge was $5 an album, I would pay for unreleased or out of print albums.

Just my cents...

Fuck mp3's. I have like one album an artist gave to me via mp3 and i hate em. Some times you gotta take a risk in buying shit. Thats kinda fun for me to find new shit thats just got bumples written all over it. And like i said its a chance it may be garbage(Like Darkleaf) but you can trade it in. Every one likes money and artist need the money from thier record sales. I also feel good bout suportin indipendent shit too.

Thats what I'm saying! LL needs to get up in the new Apple iTunes Music Store, I would seriously buy all my music from there if they had the shit I listen to. Because the second I buy a cd it goes on my computer then my iPod. I rarley listen to the actual CD... Why change cds? I just plug my speakers into my computer and I have 1000's of songs right there...
