Joe Strummer (1952-2002)

Clash's Punk Pioneer Strummer Dies at 50
(Reuters) - Joe Strummer, frontman with the Clash whose 1979 track "London Calling" exploded as one of punk's biggest anthems, has died at the age of 50, a spokesman said on Monday. The singer, guitarist and songwriter died on Sunday at his home in Somerset, western England of unknown causes. "We do not yet know the cause of death, but we believe it was not suspicious and that he passed away peacefully. An autopsy will be forthcoming," the spokesman said.

it's a sad day for rock n roll.....

The first Clash LP I ever got was "Combat Rock". I always thought the Clash were really dope because they had an influence of rock and reggae, resulting in a unique sound that was appreciated by a lot of different types of people.

This Sucks

This fuckin blows man. This is crushing news. the Clash were one of the 5 best bands of all time to me, Joe was the shit, he was a music hero of mine from way back to when i first found my dads vinyl of all the clash shit. I sweated the music, shit I musta played London Calling 8 million times during high school, and still bump the clash time to time. This sucks dude. all my favorite rock stars are dying, and shit man, 50 is so young. RIP Joe, you'll be missed.

ONE LOVE.
