NEW RELEASES:
Black Mikey - Blackula CDR http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17887 Some more of that San Diego gangsta 'ish from Black Mikey with guest appearances by Damu, hometown hero (of the genre) Mitchy Slick and even a track produced by Mr. Ridley. Dudley Perkins - Holy Smokes CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17650 Funk-hop done right! Dudley Perkins has always been a soulful cat and since teaming up with Georgia Ann Muldrow things have taken an even funkier twist. His collaboration with her on G&D was trippy and abstract, and his appearances lately have shown his singing side. With almost fifteen full-lengths to his name as well as under the alias Declaim and other side-group efforts, Holy Smokes is a culmination of all the work he's put out in the last decade, and you can tell he's having fun with it. This a return to rapping for the artist, topics ranging from political to spiritual: it's funk, it's soul, it's hip hop and it's dope! Released on the SomeOthaShip Connect label and produced entirely by Georgia Anne Muldrow. Georgia Anne Muldrow - Umsindo CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17649 Also bringing the funk this week is Ms. One herself! Well known for her unorthodox soundscaping and inspired traditional African song structuring combined with funk and hip hop, her cameo performances with artists such as Dudley Perkins, Madlib, Wildchild, and Erykah Badu have helped her come into her own as an artist, with growing critical acclaim, fanbase and opportunities. Umsindo (which means sound in Zulu) is her second full length under her name but that's certainly not counting out her other full length collaborations and projects under different monikers. The album tells a story, with subject matter ranging from world politics to the metaphysical sciences all infused with her many musical inspirations again ranging from her unique vocal stylings, playing her own instruments, funk, hip hop, soul and organic world music. If you thought her previous more recent work was a little too different, you're right, they were supposed to be...but don't worry, fans of her 2006 Stones Throw release, Olesi, will find that this is a return to Earth. Eric B & Rakim - Follow the Leader (180 g) LP http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=7026 Legendary hip-hop duo Eric B. and Rakim's second album Follow the Leader from back in 1988 gets a re-issue on vinyl! This follow up to Paid In Full was proof that hip hop was ready for a change as it broke out of its early 80's formalities and prepared us all for the 90's! Of course hip hop fans love to reference the Golden Era when it comes to the classics but to truly respect the art form as it changed before our very eyes and ears you have to go back grab some of the late 80's freshness that broke all the rules, reminding the world that hip hop was here to stay. Word! KRS One & Buckshot - Robot / The DJ 12" http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17798 A pairing for the ages! KRS One and Buckshot (Black Moon) present the first single off of their upcoming collaboration album Survival Skills coming out this September on Duck Down Records! "Robot" is produced by Mobb Deep's Havoc with the b-side produced by DJ Revolution. Paul Nice - Drum Library 2xCD / Ultimate Block Party Breaks CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17767 http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17875 Now available on CD! Volumes One through Five of Paul Nice's best selling vinyl series which compiled drums, loops and breaks catered specifically for DJ's and producers alike! Also available for the first time on CD is a rendition of Ultimate Block Party Breaks which featured some of the most sought after classic party breaks of the late seventies and early eighties. This reworked version isolates and extends only the breaks and is also very DJ and producer friendly! Sareem Poems (Sharlock Poems) - Black and Read All Over CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17683 With production by Theory Hazit and Oddisee, former LA Symphony member Sharlock Poems drops his follow up to Blooming Sounds now under the name Sareem Poems. Black and Read All Over is in keeping with his positive rhymes and often spirituality but never comes off too preachy, more observational with easy to understand messages. Excellent beats provided throughout and a host of like-minded guests including Ohmega Watts and Othello of Lightheaded, Pigeon John, Scarub, Georgia Anne Muldrow (yes, again!), LMNO, Stro of The Procussions and more.

Prefuse 73 - Forest of Oversensitivity 12"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17735 Follow-up EP to Prefuse 73's latest on Warp featuring re-workings of a select few tracks from Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian. Forest of Oversensitivity is a balance of Prefuse 73's original style from previous releases, which are grounded more in hip hop and adds some of the new psychedelia stuff seen in recent years, kind of a marriage of what he does in other groups he is involved in. For fans of the recently released Koushik or Bibio albums. Very limited vinyl: don't think you can wait & pick it up later! Quannum MCs - Live in San Francisco 2005 CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17891 The influential MC's of Quannum - Lyrics Born, The Gift of Gab, and Lateef The Truthspeaker - performing together for the first time as "The Quannum MCs" in San Francisco in 2005, with special guest DJ Mike Relm on the wheels of steel. The trio of truth played this monumental house-shaker in front of a VERY sold out home-town crowd delivering all their collective and individual hits, as well as other rarely performed numbers. This is one for the books, y'all. Featuring songs from Latyrx, Joyo Velarde, Blackalicious, Lateef, Lyrics Born and more! With 29 tracks (80 minutes) this is a must- have for any Quannum, Blackalicious and/or Gift of Gab fan. Randam Luck - Graveyard Shift CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17597 Brand new from the hardcore hip hop group that originated in San Diego and now mostly resides in LA. Making big moves and dropping this follow up to Conspiracy of Silence only a year later, their second on Babygrande, the Graveyard Shift features guest appearances by Big Left, Ill Bill, Vinnie Paz, Reef the Lost Cauze, Planetary (of Outerspace), Snowgoons, and San Diego's very own Jimmy Powers and more. For fans of La Coka Nostra, Army of the Pharaohs, Jedi Mind Tricks and all other related material. Walter Gross (Youth:Kill) - The Death of a Samplesman CDR http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17888 Walter Gross might have us all fooled, he's either the most talented motherfucker I've ever heard or he's the strangest most bizarre self taught aspiring DJ/producer out there (and he is "out there")...the two would fit nicely together but the assumptions of the listener will define him in the end. His collaborations with K-the-I?? have won him a small following and he's slowly starting to make himself known in the right circles. I'm going to assume his living and music making quarters look like a scene out of the movie Se7en. Death of a Samplesman is an experiment in sounds as collages with the base being the art of sampling of course. In this age of digital ingenuity, music making has become a lot more accessible to some of the most untalented wannabees you'll find on myspace, so it's refreshing to know that this is all built from a certain amount of scratch and utilizing the turntables and other primitive equipment in ways thought to be too time consuming. In Walter's own words, "I'm here buying 35 cent bin records, and 25 cent tapes and choppin' the hell out of them, and playing everything out by hand, and I wanted to get that idea across through this record in a fun trance- inducing kinda way". I'll admit...I liked this guy from the start...I like a little chaos and eeriness in my music and this takes it to a whole 'notha level...it's what death metal must be to a head banger, and in hip hop we're head nodders, in a way it makes you want to do both upon listening, if you haven't already pulled your hair out. Contains seven lengthy and original tracks, plus an insane remix by San Diego's elusive mad beat scientist Tenshun, and in true DIY fashion, the covers are all individually handmade. Cecil Otter - Rebel Yellow CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17870 Recently picked up by Strange Famous Records, Cecil Otter is a co-founding member of the Twin Cities crew Doomtree. Producing and emceeing became his passion at a very young age, and living in the Midwest in areas rich in American history and once full of wholesome values in our country have kind of made him an old soul. Picture a wandering poet from the past before the explosion of modern industry in the early 1900's as we built upwards. He is somewhere between Walt Whitman and the beat generation, a humble, down on his luck, take what he can get kind of guy, full of stories about real people, hardships and heartbreak. Rebel Yellow gets its proper and wider re-release thanks to Sage Francis as he continues to sign new artists to his label. Cecil's follow up Porcelain Revolver is said to come soon. For fans of course of Doomtree and their respective members, Rhymesayers, early Anticon and all other related material.
