FEATURED ITEM OF THE WEEK: Eyedea & Abilities - By The Throat CD WITH FREE POSTER http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17560 After a five year break exploring new sounds and building their personal repertoires, the dynamic duo of Eyedea & Abilities return with the follow up to their 2004 critically acclaimed sophomore album E&A. With biting guitars, fuzzy keyboards, melodic choruses, and some of their most intricate turntable work to date, By The Throat cuts right to the vein and advances far beyond Eyedea & Abilities battle tested history (winners of HBO Blaze Battle, Rocksteady, Scribble Jam and the DMC's). Throughout the nineties the duo played an important role in the development of the emerging underground Hip Hop scene alongside friends Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, EL-P, the Living Legends, Sage Francis, Blueprint and more. Always pushing the boundaries, Eyedea & Abilities have not only grown but have elevated their talents and once again successfully brought them together with By The Throat. Side note: I couldn't help but notice the similarities to Cage's new album even down to the artwork, with the use of rock and hip hop and Eyedea going back and forth from spitting fast lyrics to singing out certain portions of the songs. NEW RELEASES: Awol One & Factor - Owl Hours CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17057 Following up their collaboration on Only Death Can Kill You, Awol One and producer Factor this time around have made a special tribute to the nocturnal roamings of the late-night partygoer. But this isn't meant to be comical in nature like the recently released Rootbeer from Pigeon John and Flynn Adam. Owl Hours covers the fun and the un-fun, the reality, the club-y, and the blues-y, the chaotic to the unexplained, all things that occur with a night of binging, bar hopping, etc. It's a not really a party album with Awol rasping at the helms and Factor on the beats, it's cool but it's not party- riffic thank god. It's got a classic Shapeshifters feel, Awol in top form and guest appearances from Ceschi, Gelroc, Myka 9, Aesop Rock, Sunspot Jonz, Tha Alkaholiks and...wait for it...Xzibit!? Plus a bonus remixed track with B-Real.

Biz Markie - Ultimate Diabolical CD+DVD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=14362 As a member of the diverse Juice Crew (which was composed of Big Daddy Kane, Kool G. Rap and Roxanne Shante) Biz Markie was kind of the oddball of the group but held his own coming up in the late 80's by combining his beatboxing skills and humorous storytelling to create some truly original material for that particular chapter in hip hop. And although he has a timeless hit with "Just A Friend" there was certainly more to the Biz than just that one song. Groundbreaking for his time and still highly enjoyable to listen to in the present day, Ultimate Diabolical is a collection of classic tracks and even includes six videos if you flip the disc over on its DVD format! Build An Ark (Carlos Nino) - Dawn Remixes 12" EP http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17726 Build an Ark is led by Carlos Nino & Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, also known for projects such as Ammon Contact, The Life Force Trio and the recently released J Dilla tribute: Suite For Ma Dukes. Dawn was their second album, and now, almost two years later, we get five engaging remixes from some of L.A.'s finest plus a superb version of 'Welcome' recorded live at the Temple Bar Jazz Club, Santa Monica. Includes remixes by Ras G and Daedelus! DJ Spinna - Sonic Smash CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17421 Hell yeah! DJ Spinna, producer extraordinaire, follows up his 2006 album Intergalactic Soul with a handful of handpicked guests on Sonic Smash. Spinna's always had a unique approach to making beats: long before up and coming cats like Flying Lotus were given the "electronica meets hip hop" labels, Spinna actually made some house and electronic music selected for Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz series and experimented with more unorthodox techniques and sampling not usually synonymous with hip hop...to this day much of his old production is for groups like Jigmastas, Polyrhythm Addicts, I.G. Off And Hazadous. It would be impossible to list all his contributions and releases over the years in one short summary but Spinna will go down with some of the greatest producers hip hop has ever been blessed with...the guy can do it all. Featuring John Robinson aka Lil Sci (of Scienz of Life), a Jigmastas reunion track, Elzhi, Phonte, J-Treds and many more. The Formula Project - Evolve LP http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17411 Now on vinyl! From the Switch 17 Music Group's one-sheet summary: From the streets of New York City to the bombastic sounds of Kingston Jamaica and on to the artsy warmth of Venice California comes the fresh new sound of The Formula Project. Derived from the mind and soul of the band's creator and producer, Switch (also from Major Lazer) the band is always pushing the limits. Switch, who writes all the music for the band, has developed a sound that crosses all spectrums. One can hear the chaotic genius of Public Enemy; the reggae flavor of Sly and Robbie; as well as the trip hop electronica of Massive Attack. It is in Switch's ability to layer one genre on top of another that leads to the basis of his formula. No genre is out of reach when Switch does his thing. The group's first full length release Evolve, the main voice now showcases the amazing talents of lyricist Goldenchyl a.k.a. Andre Fennell, born in Kingston Jamaica and currently living in Long Island NY. Switch has always felt a connection to the island sounds of reggae and Goldenchyl delivers just that. The combination of producer's sound and the emcee's versatile vocal stylings make for an explosive combination. Featuring a special guest appearance by the legendary KRS-One. Her Space Holiday - Sleepy Tigers CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17687 Sleepy Tigers is the lead off single from Her Space Holiday's full- length, XOXO, Panda And The New Kid Revival. In addition to the title track, three new compositions are included - not outtakes or throwaways, but fully realized works completed in a fit of inspiration as the single was being compiled. For longtime fans of Her Space Holiday, those anxious to hear the new creative direction taken on XOXO, Panda And The New Kid Revival, or new listeners yet to discover what makes Her Space Holiday one of Mush's most beloved acts, Sleepy Tigers is the perfect preview of what's to come. K-Solo - Tell the World My Name CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17476 Available for the first time since its initial release is K-Solo's certified Hip Hop classic, "Tell the World My Name". The man who was introduced to the world on EPMD's masterful second album, "Unfinished Business", is deservingly given deluxe reissue treatment, packed with bonus liner notes, audio and artwork. In his own words: "When I was younger I was in a group with Parrish (of EPMD). He was the DJ in the group and I was the emcee. He grew up and came into his own recording deal. He always remembered that I was good, and then he heard me one day during the time after I got released. He heard some lyrics and before you know it we were in the studio. We cut the whole thing for the summer in 1990." Considered severely underappreciated by many a Hip Hop aficionado, "Tell The World My Name" was a perfect marriage of signature EPMD production paired with exceptional writing from K-Solo. A well-rounded emcee, Solo didn't just make a 12-track-deep braggadocio LP, but instead also introduced listeners to his gifted story telling abilities. The re-issued CD includes the previously unreleased "Fugitive" (A Capella), and two very rare remix versions of "Your Mom's". Kahlee - The Seed CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17883 Kahlee (formerly of the Literates) drops a follow-up EP to "Man of Many Hats" with "The Seed." Seven brand new tracks plus their instrumentals. Major Lazer (Diplo) - Guns Don't Kill People... 2LP http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17504 Now on vinyl! Mad Decent DJ/Producing duo Diplo and Switch gear up for their take on the future of dancehall. Mhz - Table Scraps (re-issue) CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=1820 Finally! The Megahertz underground classic Table Scraps gets its re-release with slightly different artwork, but it still contains the gems that created so much buzz! Originally, the Columbus, Ohio group consisted of MC Copywrite, emcee/producer Camu Tao (RIP), a then unknown RJD2 and later welcomed DJ Tage and Jakki Da Motormouth to the group. Formed in 1997, only a year later they got their big underground break with two singles released on Bobbito's now defunct Fondle 'Em label, which was a haven at the time for aspiring indie hip hop, perhaps coming in only second to Rawkus, who would later launch Copywrite's debut. Table Scraps was released in 2001 and functions as an album, but is more like a compilation of the best material recorded over the course of five years! Highly recommended, so don't sleep on it this time around! NgaFsh - Summer EP 2009 CDR EP http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17852 A summertime refresher and a short but sweet follow up to Unstable Does It Again, this limited release also serves as a precursor to an upcoming full length scheduled for December! Featuring members of CVE and production by the Grim Reefah. Trife Diesel - Better Late Than Never CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17749 Formerly Trife Da God, the Staten Island youngin' came up only in this decade but made connections very early on and received a big push from Ghostface Killah! After several mixtapes and countless appearances Trife finally gets his debut, and he did it without burning bridges or abiding by industry politics. Definitely inspired by the era of hip hop that brought us the Wu-Tang Clan and saw the untimely deaths of Biggie and Tupac. Better Late Than Never may be a commonly used title, but the timing for the aspiring rapper might be just right. Featuring guest appearances by Ghostface, Termanology, Royce Da 5'9" and more. Ultimate Breaks & Beats - Instrumentals Vol. 2 CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17750 The Ultimate Breaks & Beats series is a collection of some of the most sampled breaks ever compiled from music released during the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. The series has been done and redone; released and re-released several times. Up until now, these songs were never available as purely instrumental only and producers have been forced to work around the grunts, screams, and crooning of these classics to isolate that perfect drum beat, breakdown, or sample. Previously, Traffic Ent. Group brought us the El Michael's Affair interpretations and now Mr. Chop and Friends produced Ultimate Breaks & Beats Instrumentals Volume 2 with added bonuses including three UBB influenced break interludes. An interesting new take and DJ/producer friendly.
