The Gaslamp Killer - Lake Of Fire Mix CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17806
This one came out just moments after last week's newsletter was
submitted but you'll have to act fast 'cause they're already flying
out of the store! The Motherfucking Gaslamp Killer returns with an
all-new mix of heavy beats, psychedelia, dubstep, and even more
trippy shit! Broken up into several lengthy tracks with no listings
just to keep you in the dark a little about what's what on this heavy
mix. As usual these are limited so get yours soon!

NEW RELEASES:

Big Tone - Chocolate 7"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17818
Second single (this time in the form of a 45) off of Big Tone's The
Art of Ink album out on Tres Records! "Chocolate" is one of many
stand out tracks on an already very strong album produced by the MC
himself and featuring L'Renee on vocals and comes with the
instrumental on the B-side! Heat!

Cunninlynguists - Strange Journey Vol. One CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17217
Strange Journey Volume One features appearances by Killer Mike, Khujo
(of Goodie Mob), Skinny Deville & Fishscales (of Nappy Roots), Slug
(of Atmosphere), Tonedeff, Substantial, PackFM, Mac Lethal, Mr. SOS,
Looptroop Rockers, Hilltop Hoods and more! Both volumes are
interconnected efforts, built around the concept of touring and
travel.

DJ Lonely + Eddie Def - Pin Up Breaks LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17762
DJ Lonely, producer of Drug Breaks and Hee Haw Breaks 2, and Eddie
Def (Bullet Proof Scratch Hamsters, Space Traveller and member of El
Stew) team up to bring you the most hypnotic break record you've
heard in awhile. With a continuous play format on side A, it's good
for about 12 minutes of pure scratching tastiness, at various tempos
of course. Side B is a jazzy soul scratcher number that will keep
heads nodding, plus a 7 minute long scratch sentence from Eddie Def
featuring sound samples from across the planet and another dimension.
Sure to become your favorite and newest "go-to" scratch record.

La Coka Nostra - A Brand You Can Trust CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17645
A Brand You Can Trust is the first official album by La Coka Nostra,
the all-star supergroup including Everlast, Danny Boy, DJ Lethal, Ill
Bill and Slaine. The album features guest appearances by Snoop Dogg,
Cypress Hill, Immortal Technique, Bun B, Sick Jacken and Q-Unique,
plus production by The Alchemist.

Muneshine - Status Symbol CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17665
Domination Recordings helps Canadian emcee/producer Muneshine get a
wider release after his Status Symbol album had previously dropped
outside the states. The respected Toronto rapper has managed to sell
30,000 albums worldwide and has a growing amount of fans, he's worked
with such legends in the field as Pete Rock and DJ Spinna and on his
new album there are guest appearances from Sean Price, Termanalogy,
Kenn Star, Little Vic, Nature, Skyzoo and fellow Canadian D-Sisive.

Neila - Better Late Than Never CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17829
Neila is one of the dopest female emcee's out there but it's likely
she'd rather you not lump her into that category and quite frankly
I'd rank her with the best of the best in the underground! Follows up
her 2004 album For Whom The Bells Crow, it has certainly been a long
five years since her last solo but we most recently heard from her on
2007's The Convenience with Tommy V and evs. But with time and age
comes perfection and that's what Better Late Than Never is all about
and couldn't have been better titled. From the banging beats to
Neila's hypnotic monotonous flow, the imagery is vivid and the hip
hop just the right amount of heavy to back it up. We were nodding our
heads and replaying tracks the whole day when we got this and are
proud to represent it! Featuring guest appearances by Sleep of Old
Dominion, 2Mex, Awol One, Matre, DJ Ethos of Acid Reign, and one of
the dopest posse cuts you'll hear all year with evs, Gelroc,
Existereo, Xololanxinco, Volume 10, Bigg Jus and more! Produced by
Avatar and released on LA2theBay!

Namo - Abstractions Beat Tape CDR
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17854
LA DJ/Producer Namo supplied us with his latest release, the
Abstractions Beat Tape! Featuring six brand new downtempo
instrumentals and select tracks off his previously released Beat Book
EP and Shallow! If your into jazzy hip hop or are familiar with
Makestapes for comparison, then pick this one up for sure!

Omid - Beneath the Surface Instrumentals 2LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17810
Somehow this one slipped right by us when it was released a few years
back but we are happy we have found some actual official existing
copies of the instrumentals to Omid's groundbreaking debut production
on Beneath The Surface! This double vinyl masterpiece is not to be
passed up. Even if you aren't familiar with the compilation that
brought some of the best (many unknown at the time) west coast
underground artists together, the heavy and easy to get into
instrumentals stand on their own just as well and will resonate with
any hip hop and instrumental fan. Not sure how many are left after we
sell out of these but the only thing that matters now is that we
found some!

Paten Locke - Break Thru 12"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17816
Paten Locke aka Therapy of the AB's (Alias Brothers) or formerly the
Jacksonville, Florida group known as Asamov, is about to drop his
debut album on Tres Records! This is one label right now that just
has a knack for releasing consistently dope hip hop and discovering
or giving chances to lesser known underground talent. The
emcee/producer's first single is perhaps the biggest tease of the
summer, three tracks, all amazing, and even better, we get the
instrumentals and accapellas for each track! Tres just knows what
people want and I know people are going to want to hear more from
Paten Locke once the buzz about this single gets going! Don't sleep!

Quantic & Combo Barbaro - Tradition In Transition CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17718
Released on Tru Thoughts Recordings and taken from their product
summary: "On the crest of a burgeoning worldwide wave of interest in
the lesser-tapped sources of music from the Caribbean, Latin America
and Africa, Quantic and his Combo Barbaro are leading the charge.
Tradition In Transition, will see this international cast of
acclaimed musical creators fusing those rediscovered psychedelic,
experimental and rhythmically rich sounds of the past with deep funk
and soul elements, giving life to an explosive sonic snapshot of the
eclectic and ever-evolving musical landscape of the Americas. In
crafting the sound of Quantic and his Combo Barbaro, mastermind Will
Holland felt it was imperative to have the core stable of musicians
in the same room, creating an organic dialogue between them - a
simple rule which, in an age of drum machines, samples and voice
correction, is all too often overlooked. People will be instinctively
drawn time and again to revisit the music made in this traditional,
substantial way, undoubtedly because strange, unexpected things take
place, musicians improvise and exciting musical statements are made,
and this was the environment needed for the recording of the album.
The result is a multi-cultural patchwork - a record bathed but not
exclusively rooted in Colombian musical culture, embracing the
musical range of all the American continent, honoring and utilising
its contributors' individual backgrounds while conjuring up a unique
brand of contemporary music that is a joy and a celebration to listen
to, and a live experience that defies comparison."

Risil - Non Meters Volume 1 CD/2LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17704
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17705
Risil is Prefuse 73 mastermind Scott Herren's new super-collective
which right now includes Herren, Hella's Zach Hill, Tortoise's John
McEntire, Battles' Tyondai Braxton, School of Seven Bells' Alejandra
Deheza and Benjamin Curtis, and Savath & Savalas' Eva Puyuelo Muns.
At least, this is the line-up for Non Meters Volume 1 (the first of
three projected). According to a press release from Important
Records, the albums "are split into three volumes based on the time
each piece was made and the players who worked together the most
during each period of open time."

Thorts - Bleeding Heart Muzik CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17858
Three years in the making, Bleeding Heart Muzik is fifteen tracks of
introspective underground hip-hop that documents a young man's coming
of age, his metamorphosis and the promise of a triumphant new
beginning. This deeply personal album by Western Australia's rising
star Thorts is also well crafted and with a love for hip-hop that
spans over 14 years, Thorts is best known for his ardent dedication
to Geelong's Hungry Humans crew and the honest, heart-felt lyrics
that have become synonymous with his alias. It's this passionate,
confessional approach to song-writing and a unique, self-assured
vocal performance that allows Thorts to break free of the
superficial, braggadocio, production-line rap often associated with
his beloved art form. So don't let the accent throw you off, it's
more like listening to the Australian version of Slug or Brother Ali.

Young MC - Stone Cold Rhymin' Deluxe CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17676
The Delicious Vinyl classic Stone Cold Rhymin' by Young MC originally
dropped in 1989 and was full of funky feel good rap that lead to the
runaway worldwide hit "Bust A Move." Deluxe edition CD includes
remixes by Diplo, Aaron Lacrate & Debonair Samir, Matt Dike and more.
13 tracks on the main set and 6 bonus tracks.

NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL:

DJ JS-1 - No Sellout (w/MP3 CD) 2LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17575
21 new songs produced by JS-1 with hip hop legends and veterans not
only featured but paired properly creating collaborations that have
been long overdue or never done before. For instance, having OC &
Pharoahe Monch on a song together again, or pairing KRS & Canibus, or
getting Ultramagnetic MC's (BOTH Kool Keith & Ced Gee on song with
Prince Po & Canibus!). The Queens Bridge posse cut, On The Map with
Craig G, Blaq Poet, Big Noyd, and other concept songs like EMC I Knew
A Girl and Original Gz with AG, Craig G, & Edo G are what keep the
people coming back for more. The combinations of both east coast &
west coast rappers from various eras of hiphop mixed with JS-1's
beats and scratch hooks is an undeniable treat for any hiphop
fanatic. There is also live guitar, horns and keyboards on several
tracks for real music lovers. DJ JS-1's 'NO SELLOUT' album is 21
tracks featuring over 40 rappers and is 79 minutes long! Includes
data format disc with MP3s of all album tracks in dirty, clean, inst.
& acapella versions.

Abstract Rude - Rejuvenation 2LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=14493
As a product of the legendary Goodlife open mic sessions, Abstract
Rude splashed onto the scene in 1994 as part of the famed Project
Blowed crew that included LA's Freestyle Fellowship and Aceyalone. As
one half of the A-Team (with Aceyalone), one third of Haiku D'Etat
(with Aceyalone & Myka 9) and frontman of his group Abstract Tribe
Unique (ATU), Ab Rude has endeared himself to fans worldwide through
consistent touring and genre defining albums such as 1999's South
Central Thynk Tank (currently out of print). Once signed to the
Beastie Boys Grand Royal imprint, Ab has readied himself to re-emerge
with Rhymesayers Entertainment and his most consistent and focused
work to date, Rejuvenation, a long awaited follow up to his 2003
album Showtyme, while appearing elsewhere on other projects over the
last few years. Produced entirely by Seattle super producer Vitamin D
(G-Unit, Redman, Young Buck, Gift of Gab, Choklate, Lifesavas, Black
Sheep, etc.), Rejuvenation is a hard hitting soulful ryde showcasing
Ab Rude's distinct and unlimited vocal styling. Comes with a drop
card that allows you to download the instrumentals by following the
instructions to the website on the back... so don't throw it away,
it's not a dinky flier. Plus a free Rejuvenation poster! While
supplies last.

Marco Polo & Torae - Double Barrel 2LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17468
In the spirit of great hip hop duos, Marco Polo, the Toronto
DJ/producer now based in the Big Apple, coming off the success of his
Port Authority album, and Coney Island emcee Torae drop their
collaborative project Double Barrel! For the most part, the city that
is also the birthplace of hip hop and used to dominate the scene is
now sorely lacking, even most hip hop veterans in New York have been
forced underground as they struggle to remain in touch with today's
generation of rap audiences. This unfortunate part of the sad state
of hip hop's relevance in the mainstream is happening all over the
country, but Torae is adamant that New York hip hop is back and never
actually left, as displayed on his album from last year, Daily
Conversations. We don't need convincing that hip hop is not dead,
that argument has been smashed, because the culture still thrives
beneath the surface. Its preservation is key, and this type of album
is one aspect of it. That seems to be the focus between the lines of
Double Barrel, while it's at times "in-your-face," it is also meant
to be part throw-back and part tribute to the Golden Era and the type
of hip hop New York became known for from the likes of Boogie Down
Productions to Kool G Rap all the way to Mobb Deep and Boot Camp
Clik. Appropriately released on Duck Down Ent., as they continue to
expand their label beyond their own roster, the album features guest
spots by Guilty Simpson, Heltah Skeltah, Saukrates and Lil Fame of
M.O.P.

Serengeti and Polyphonic - Terradactyl LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17485
From Anticon's website: "Serengeti and Polyphonic's Terradactyl is an
album about place-losing place, mostly, struggling to find it again,
and succumbing to the fact that it's cold, and surprisingly lonely,
when you're dressed in the human condition. Serengeti, heretofore a
master of on-record character acting, appears here as his most
vulnerable self: someone wedged between a dream and a series of day-
jobs, between a failed marriage and raising new life, inside of a
large family with fractured ties, and split between two distinct
racial/economic paradigms. His cracked abstractions (this is no "poor-
me" man's emo diary) paint him as homeless, at times literally, while
weaving their meaning into the much larger loom of universal
displacement. And as on this duo's 2007 debut, Don't Give Up, worldly
beat-maestro Polyphonic is on hand to make beauty out of so much
madness." Very different, abstract, and fitting for an Anticon
release from a non-Anticon member, but perfect placement. It's deep,
strange and beautiful and at times can't possibly be considered hip
hop, but it is certainly musical art.
