You get what you pay for.. Why do you think they are so cheap? They cut costs wherever they can.

What?? I thought Dell's were on point?

I heard HP and Compaq were the brands to stay away from.

Never had any real problems with the Dell I use at the job, and I knows I put this sucker through the grind.

My computer is fine. Its Dell's customer service and finance dept. thats fucked. They keep sending my bill to the wrong address and everytime they say they've corrected the issue, they dont. Oh well, I just paid off the whole damn thing over the phone and closed the account.

The computer's cool though. I'm still getting a Mac next time though. I hear nothing but good things about them just like i-pods.

I dropped my i-pod for the first time ever last week and it completely popped open. I closed it and had no issues. I have never had a problem with it.

I had some faulty hardware on my Dell laptop last year and I had no problems with their customer support services. They went through the typical trouble shooting steps and then sent someone over at no charge to replace the bad parts later that week, even though I only had the mail-in service. My laptop was working fine again within 3 days of talking with them.

HP/Compaq on the other hand... ... I had to deal with them about some overheating laptops that we had at work. When I first called them, they said that our company had an account with them, but those laptops were not listed under them. I had to go and find our purchase orders and fax it to them, just to proove that we bought the computers through them. Then they were saying that they were out of their warranty period even though it had only been a month and we purchased a 2-year warranty... After all of that was finally straightened out (almost 2 weeks later) we finally sent our computers out to be serviced....

Note: Never get a laptop that has a regular Desktop CPU...

HP and Compaq are the same company now.

Dell is not the most reliable computer (but still better than Sony). They're cheap though, which is one reason why they're so popular. I wouldn't buy a Dell based on the fact that I know so many people who've had problems (service and hardware).

I've had the best experience with IBM. They've been around the longest and know how to make a solid computer.

I've had good experiences with Gateway and HP too.
