sic- spelling isn't correct

Took me a while to figure out that one, despite the obvious context it's always used in.

No, sic is a Latin abbreviation:

sic (from Latin sicut for "just as") is used to indicate that an unusual spelling, phrase, or any other preceding quoted material is intended to be read or printed exactly as shown (rather than being an error) and should not be corrected.

Naw it's not really intentional. Essentially the person being quoted screwed it up without knowing any better, and then the writer quoting them leaves it incorrect to preserve the integrity of the quote.

first...
I learned this just a short while back...
I think..I could be wrong..

but doesn't an acronym have to spell out a competent word..
for instance...

C.I.A-is not an acronym..

where as:

C.O.W- chill out whale...

Second...
well I had to have a second cuz I put a first..
