Detroit Show

I was looking forward to this show for a long time. I went with a couple of buddies and we got there right on time. Doors opened at 8 but teh show didnt start until a little after 9.

First up was Busdriver, 2mex and some other Mexican guy. Busdriver reminded me of early Busta Rhymes. Like the Scenario video. They definitley had talent, but theyre just werent my style.

Im not sure if I was more excited for LL or E&A. Im a huge Rhymesayers fan and Id seen footage of Eyedea's freestyle and battle skills and likewise for Abilities turntable skills. They served it up without disappointment. Eyedea seemed liek he was in a bit of a sour mood, but maybe thats just the direction of his new material, i donno. They incorporated the freestyles in alot. Most impressive was when Abilities made a beat on the tables and Eyedea would match it with his vocal pattern. Eyedea even dished out a little Eminem dis by plugging his nose and rappin all nasely over a Dre beat. When the crowd wasnt participaton enough he souted "c'mon act like you're an 8 mile extra" . Funny shit. Picked up their Road Mix and had em sign it. Its a cool lil cd. One song sample The Big Lebowski and Donnie Darko. When i bought it, Murs was sellin the E&A merch. We shot the bs for ahile and slapped fives. I told him i wanted an action figure and he smiled ear to ear and was like "Ill be back in May man! youll get one"

Next up the, the Legends. I was kind of disappointed by the meager crowd. 200 tops in a venue that can hold almost 1000. But they rocked it regardless like it was a full house and the crowd threw back their energy. Murs was definitely the shit on stage. He was smiling and dancing around the entire set. They played a bit of a short set. I dont think it was much longer than E&A. I was happy to hear Night Prowler (minus Sluggo of course). And Def cover. I wanted to hear alot from End of the Beginning. Almost all of the artists complained about the barrier that made a 4 foot gap between the audience and the performers. It prolly killed the vibe a little bit but i was still very impressed. See ya next round.
