FEATURED ITEMS OF THE WEEK:

GZA - Liquid Swords Chess Box 2xCD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22210
The Liquid Swords two disc deluxe "Chess Box" edition is housed in a
sturdy wrapped hard board two piece box. Disc one contains the
official album version while disc two contains the full RZA produced
instrumentals. Both discs have been completely restored with
remastered audio from the original source tapes and have truly never
sounded better. In the early to mid nineties and at the peak of his
powers as a producer, Wu-Tang Clan mastermind RZA crafted a
distinctive soundtrack at his basement studio in Staten Island.
Whether or not he knew it at the time this haunting landscape of
dusty samples, sharp snares and menacing urban gloom, would soon
become a pillar of hip hop history. GZA's 1995 sophomore LP Liquid
Swords eventually became considered by many as each individual's
finest work. Cerebral, strategic and precise with his words, GZA
crystallizes a range of influences from chess to kung-fu films to
mob flicks and Eastern philosophy. The album featured appearances by
the entire Wu-Tang Clan, and included the auspicious debut of Killah
Priest on "B.I.B.L.E." As always with any deluxe Get On Down
release, there are plenty of extras: Researched, in depth, full
color liner notes with contributions from GZA himself, spanning
across 20 pages. Inner jackets and dust sleeves with memorable
vintage artwork from the original release. And even a full wooden
miniature chess set, which can be played on the chess board printed
and contained directly on the inner lining of the box.

Masta Ace & MF Doom - MA_Doom: Son of Yvonne CD/2LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22069
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22070
Let's get one thing straight right away...these are not brand new
Doom beats, but that said, it doesn't lessen significance of the
album's concept, a tribute to Masta Ace's mother who passed away.
Entirely underscored by MF Doom's iconic Special Herbs
instrumentals, Son of Yvonne is meticulously constructed with
stories, settings, and characters that resonate with flesh and bone
humanity. Interstitial vignettes provide a thematic backbone to the
experience, and each track complements and completes the previous to
form a narrative whole: a sometimes visceral, sometimes nostalgic
slice of Ace's young life in Brownsville, Brooklyn.

NEW RELEASES:

Aesop Rock - Skelethon 2LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21971
Now on vinyl! Iconic New York-born, San Francisco-based rapper and
producer, Aesop Rock, has found a new home post Def Jux with
Rhymesayers for his highly anticipated sixth album! While it's been
five years since his last solo None Shall Pass, he certainly hasn't
been on hiatus. Over the years he popped up for guest spots on some
unusual but very dope projects, he produced Murs and Slug's Felt 3,
and released the concept piece Hail Mary Mallon with Rob Sonic and
DJ Big Wiz just last year. Skelethon not only sees the rapper back
waxing poetically on his own but also marks his first wholly self-
produced effort. While the sounds are familiar, we see Aesop
venturing in some exciting new directions with guest appearances
from indie rock archetype, Kimya Dawson, as well as Allyson Baker of
Dirty Ghosts, Hanni El Khatib, Nicky Fleming-Yaryan, Rob Sonic, DJ
Big Wiz and the Grimace Federation. Aesop's new album follows in
the wake of several deep personal losses and highlights subject
matter that deals with the sometimes futile ways people try to cope
with serious issues.

Has-Lo - Mello Music 7" Series #5 7"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22130
The fifth release (limited to 300 copies) in Oddisee's ongoing 7-inch
series on Mello Music Group! Breakout emcee Has-Lo is featured on two
tracks here one produced by Apollo Brown and then Illmind on the
flip!

Hazel - The Lost Tapes LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22299
Now on limited white vinyl! Parisian producer Hazel is back with The
Lost Tapes, a 21 track beat opus compiled from his extensive
catalog. With collaborations from Drake, Slakah the Beatchild and
Ebrahim, The Lost Tapes is far from a simple compilation of
instrumentals and features; it's an album in the truest sense of the
word, crafted with painstaking attention to detail. Longtime
collaborator and friend Ebrahim selected, arranged and mastered each
track to blend seamlessly together, creating an album deserving to be
experienced in its entirety by the listener. Combining punchy
basslines with crisp snares and deep kicks, Hazel's music gives a
nod to the signature style of those who inspired and came before
him; hip hop producers who breathed soul into their sound. The
incredible artwork was conceived and developed by Mikael Columbu
(videographer & director for Bilal, The Weeknd, Cee-Lo, Onra & more).

Hudson Mohawke x Lunice - TNGHT 12" EP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22240
TNGHT (pronounced 'tonight') is what happens when two of the most
sought after young producers hit the studio together. Both Hudson
Mohawke & Lunice have emerged over the last three years as the kings
of a modern fusion of hip hop and UK underground dance music which
is now reaching critical mass with global audiences and artists
alike.

Infinity Gauntlet + V-Rock - Instrumentals Volume 1 CDR
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22447
Two of some of the best beat making minds that San Diego has to
offer have come together on an instrumental project that will have
you foaming at the mouth for more! Go!

J Rocc - Minimal Wave Edits vol.1 12" EP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22260
Stones Throw mainstay and longtime Beat Junkie J-Rocc presents edits
of selections from the first volume of The Minimal Wave Tapes,
originally recorded between 1981 and 1985 and put out on vinyl a few
years ago on Stones Throw. The versions presented here were created
by J.Rocc in 2012 and are meant to enhance and hip hop-ify the
experience of these lost progressive 80's pop gems.

J Rocc - Taster's Choice Vol. 6 CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21958
Next up! After a three year hiatus, the underground mixtape series
Taster's Choice returns from the Stones Throw/Beat Junkies DJ,
J Rocc. The long awaited Volume 6 highlights rare breaks and obscure
mixes of African/Reggae music in a collective blend as only the
Funky President can assemble.

La Coka Nostra - Masters of the Dark Arts CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22094
Back for their sophomore album, this is a more raw, less polished and
unfriendly vibe this time around as compared to "A Brand You Can
Trust". Darker, grimier beats which influenced the direction of the
lyrics and songs overall. Features production by DJ Premier, DJ
Lethal (Limp Bizkit/House Of Pain) & Statik Selektah. Guest
appearances by Vinnie Paz & Sean Price.

Large Pro - Professor @ Large 2LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22048
Now on vinyl! Large Professor is so involved with the history of hip-
hop, it's almost impossible to separate the two. His first beat-work
was for Eric B. and Rakim. As a founder of the golden age crew Main
Source, he gave Nasty Nas his debut. He rapped and produced on
Tribe's Midnight Marauders, and co-crafted the sound of Illmatic.
Now he's back again with his third solo album, "Professor @ Large".
He's proud to be old school but you couldn't tell based on his
lyrics. He sounds hungry still. Each song is has a different style.
And a lot of featured artists like Busta Rhymes to keep your head
noddin. You can judge this one by its cover because the
kaleidoscopic art is awesome!

Major Lazer (Diplo) - Get Free 12"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22269
A brand new track from Diplo (after parting ways with Switch) under
the Major Lazer moniker, featuring the vocals of Amber Coffman,
originally released back in May as a digital download and now
featuring on this single the original, its instro and 2 remixes!

Diplo - Express Yourself 7"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22434
Also from Diplo this week is the Express yourself single, originally
released in May and featuring tracks from the CD EP of the same name.
Express Yourself is Diplo's first time out in the well established
universe of New Orleans Bounce Music. "Express Yourself" takes club
music back below the waist, where it works best, and brings a bit of
the Dirty Dirty to the polished world of electronic dance music. B-
side features the previously unreleased Diplo track "Move Around"
featuring the Elephant Man and production duo GTA. Limited edition
of 1,000 copies packaged in matte printed fold-out jackets on
textured paper with original artwork by Michael Gaughan.

Oddisee - People Hear What They See 2LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22053
Now on vinyl and in Oddisee's own words: "This album is about
influence, inspiration, perception & reality. Every song was written
in an outside environment, so that I could observe the subjects that
would become my subject matter. All too often in Hip Hop, reality is
limited to that of the artist's own, actual experiences. People Hear
What They See is my attempt to liberate the MC from those
constraints & allow reality to be penned other than my own.
Listening to congressmen & lawyers converse on the steps of the
supreme court inspired 'American Greed', Watching a couple argue
over the phone in a bar inspired 'Maybes'. By having a visual
representation of my subject matter, my hopes are that the listener
will see them through the worlds & melodies of my songs."

Prodigy - HNIC v.3 LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22142
H.N.I.C. 3 follows in the footsteps of its two predecessors (2000
and 2008 respectively) and it features a rejuvenated, but still
strange and magnetic Prodigy aggressively debating about life,
prison, religion and conspiracy theories. Prodigy's gritty and
poignant storytelling is laid on a bed of captivating beats provided
by familiar collaborators like Alchemist, as well as Sid Roams. As a
member of Mobb Deep, even back in the day they were known as some of
the grittier and darkest artists of the golden era of hip hop, and
Prodigy has consistently been able to paint the most realistic
images of a troubled generation, eternally battered and scarred by
unfavorable family relations, unfair social settings and an unusual,
sometimes dysfunctional, lifestyle. Since serving his 3 year prison
sentence he is on the path of a comeback, releasing an autobiography
and a documentary about his life, with recent and successful Mobb
Deep tours and appearances at prestigious festivals like SXSW.

Self Jupiter, Kenny Segal - The Kleenrz CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22324
The Kleenrz (pronounced: Da Cleaners) is a collaboration by two of
Los Angeles rap's most mysterious artists, the monolithic, Victorian
street poet, ex-con and inner city griot, Self Jupiter and the
ubiquitously credited, yet seldom seen producer/beatmaker Kenny
Segal (Abstract Rude, Freestyle Fellowship). Segal's production
builds a sinister foundation that fills the music with texture and
uncertainty, allowing Jupiter's eerily vivid writing style and
nonchalant delivery to space to tell the clandestine tales of The
Kleenrz: stark reality, disturbing details, time to think, rethink,
and un-think what you thought you knew. Kenny Segal and Self Jupiter
made sure that this project is dark but fun, disturbing yet cool;
the record is art-rap noir, Project Blowed meets Fritz Lang. The
cast of guests includes Nocando, MURS, Volume 10, Abstract Rude,
Subtitle, Alpha MC, Gajah and Shing02.

Serengeti - C.A.R. CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22063
It happened in Berkeley. There was a beat. Then there were rhymes.
Then cuts. Three dudes came together to do what they do best -- lay
it down, kill shit, make an album. And that's what C.A.R. is: a
record of the work that went down at three points between the dawn
of 2009 and the close of 2011 at a place called Burnco, the cottage
studio of Anticon aural wizard Odd Nosdam. Chicago rapper Serengeti
was in town crashing on Jel's couch (that's it on the cover), and
each day he and his beat-making host would grab a cup of joe and
hoof it over to Nosdam's. Two would chill in the backyard while the
third did his thing. One would mellow in the backyard while the two
did their thing. Three would cool out in the backyard while
listening to their thing. Each man a master of his field, they
trusted each other to make the songs good, and they are. C.A.R. fits
together just right. Eleven tracks, one interlude, twenty-nine and a
half minutes. WHY?'s Yoni Wolf co-produces a song. Dee from Thee
More Shallows helps out on another. Daddy Kev mastered the thing.
Jel rapped once, scratched a ton of wax, and co-produced the beats
with Nosdam, who mixed it too. 'Geti rhymed a bunch. They had fun.
They made C.A.R. You can have it.

The Snowgoons - Snowgoons Dynasty 2xCD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22233
Snowgoons Dynasty showcases the German production crew perfecting
their craft alongside an all-star lineup of MCs, consisting of
Ghostface Killah, Joell Ortiz, Ill Bill, Killah Priest, Sean Price,
Lil Fame (M.O.P.), Tragedy Khadafi, Termanology, Bizarre, Swifty
McVay (D12), and Ras Kass, and that doesn't even scratch the
surface. Die-hard fans will definitely appreciate the 32 tracks
spread out over 2 discs.

Various Artists - All The Breaks v3 LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22164
The third and final volume of this series features another impressive
collection of 100 more original and sought after breakbeats, sourced
and remastered from the original records, and then cut down to the
essential parts. Instead of featuring full songs or repetitive
loops, All The Breaks only features open breakbeat sections from
classic tunes, compiled for your convenience.

Various Artists - Where The Wild Creatures Meet 2LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22413
Where The Wild Creatures Meet spotlights some of the main albums and
projects from Melting Pot Music this year. Compiled by Oliver
"Olski" von Felbert. The album title is a quote from the Doors song
"Love Street." Twit One and Miles Bonny did a great cover version
under the name "The Ins" (available on 7") that was supposed to be
on this comp but didn't made it because S3 (Miles Bonny and Brenk
Sinatra) delivered their first official song just in time (their
album is scheduled for September). Also catch a taste of Dexter's
long-awaited and yet untitled psych album and much, much more.

Wax Tailor - Heart Stop 10"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22242
Heart Stop is the first single in three years from French downtempo
producer WAX TAILOR. The track is replete in psychedelic and rock
influences and marks a transition towards a more lush production
style. This limited edition (500 copies) red colored 10" comes in an
embossed cover.

Bassnectar - Vava Voom 12"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22270
45 RPM 12-inch of the lead track from the album, featuring Lupe
Fiasco and with bonus beats added. Includes free download card.
Bassnectar is the brainchild of Lorin Ashton, and it exists as an
open-sourced musical project that is as diverse as it is heavy, as
raw as it is meticulous, and as fierce as it is imaginary. Spanning
the spectrum of sonic style, the music covers every genre imaginable
and smashes it all into a synthesis of intense, wobbling basslines
and hypnotic soundscapes. Proof that American dubstep can be just as
good as the UK's by combining sound and force with weight, the
Bassnectar experience engulfs the senses.
