NEW BOOK:

Brian Coleman - Rakim Told Me
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22079
Journalist Brian Coleman has, over the past decade, immersed himself
in and written about the hip hop artform as a columnist for national
magazines like XXL, Scratch, CMJ and URB. In this brand new book
Rakim Told Me, he covers hip hop facts from the 80's by legendary
artists like De La Soul, Ice-T, Slick Rick, Public Enemy, KRS-One,
Too $hort and more and of course Rakim himself. These are the liner
notes straight from the sources, as hip hop albums very early on
never received true treatment from the record labels that other
genres did about the behind the scenes stuff and creative and
collective processes that went into making some of hip hop's most
classic albums.

NEW SHIRTS:

Scatter Brain - Honkey Kong/Scatter Brain T-Shirts
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?artist=Scatter+Brain
Scatter Brain logo shirts designed by Honkey Kong restocked and now
back in black!

Mr. Brady - Official Logo shirt
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?a...rady&page=gear
San Diego's own Mr. Brady now has a shirt with his classic
logo/caricature. Mr. Brady is a seasoned producer, DJ and MC who has
been recording and releasing music since 1995. In 1999 Mr. Brady
signed with Vancouver-based indie powerhouse Battle Axe Records,
releasing the underground classic 12" "Let My Record Rotate" and
followed it up with two solid albums - "Dirty" and "Dusty Baker". In
2003, Mr. Brady put together the San Diego based group Deep Rooted.

NEW DVD:

Bram Van Splunteren - Big Fun In the Big Town DVD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22022
Big Fun In The Big Town features interviews and appearances with: MC
Shan, Grandmaster Flash, Roxanne Shante, Biz Markie, Doug E Fresh,
Mr. Magic, Marley Marl, CBS Crew, Mystery Crew, Run DMC, The Last
Poets, Schoolly D and many more. All regions, run time 41:28. Filmed
in New York City in 1986, "Big Fun in the Big Town" chronicles the
emerging cultural movement called hip-hop through the lens of an
upstart Dutch filmmaker named Bram Van Splunteren. Armed with
nothing more than a camera crew and vague understanding of the
English language, Van Splunteren's fearless excursion into the world
of American hip hop led him to the gritty landscapes of Harlem,
South Bronx, and the Lower East Side during the peak years of the
1980s crack epidemic. As many would come to learn, this backdrop
proved to be the incubator to what became a breeding ground for hip
hop pioneers. Never released until decades after it was filmed. The
amazing scenes contained herein will blow the minds of any self
respecting fan of rap music; a 17 year old LL Cool J greeting Van
Splunteren from the door step of his grandmother's apartment (where
he still lived), the Mystery Crew out of Chicago who happened to be
trying to snag a meeting with Russell Simmons outside the small
first offices of Def Jam on the same day Van Splunteren happened to
be interviewing him, DMC freestyling to and unreleased beat on the
cassette deck of his brand new and first Cadillac, a still skinny
Biz Markie beatboxing for Roxanne Shante on stage, just to give a
few examples. Travel back to where it all began and relive the
inspiring struggle of hip hop music all over again.

NEW RELEASES:

2econd Class Citizen - The Small Minority CD / LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22099
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22100
It has been a long time coming as they say and now the second full
length album from UK producer 2econd Class Citizen is ready for
release. Having spent the past year collaborating with and remixing
DJ Food, touring Europe with US artist cars&trains and remixing
artists such as Loka and Dday One, 2econd Class Citizen also managed
to fit in some studio time and is back with his signature sound on
The Small Minority, his follow-up to 2009's lauded A World Without.

Ancient Astronauts - The Orion Nebula Remixes 7"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22115
Two tracks off of last year's Into Bass and Time get remixed!

Anthony Valadez - Just Visiting LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22133
Now on vinyl! Plug Research's label has brought us such dynamic
artists over the years with releases from Daedelus, Exile, Nobody and
Shafiq Husayn. The label is on a roll this year after dropping Sene's
Brooklynite and the recent Sonnymoon, and now LA based DJ/producer
Anthony Valdez drops Just Visiting. Featuring super chill beats and
equally cool guests including Sonnymoon, Damon Aron, Miles Bonny and
rapper Def Sound.

Austin Peralta & Sun Ra - Views of Saturn vol. 2 12"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22086
Brainfeeder's Austin Peralta gives us his take on Space Loneliness #2
with the original on the flipside. An incredibly original and
expansive interpretation, it's a worthy follow up to the first volume
from Ras G. The original version has yet to be reissued on vinyl so
one for both the collectors and the curious. Like the last one,
bespoke cover art comes via Stephen Serrato. Limited vinyl only.

Beastie Boys/Major Lazer - Don't Play No Game That I Can't Win 7"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21728
Back in stock! The Beastie Boys track "Don't Play No Game That I
Can't Win" dub version by Major Lazer with clacking percussion, a
moombahton beat & blaring vuvuzela horns, featuring Santigold.
Limited pressing on orange vinyl. RIP MCA.

Busdriver - Superhands' Mantra 7"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22098
Non-album track featuring Aesop Rock. Limited pressing, blue vinyl in
a clear plastic sleeve. Busdriver writes: "Songs born out of
aggression tend to usually make the final cut over here. This song is
no exception. I asked Aesop Rock to join me in a spiraling death
plunge into rap's blackened heart and he happily agreed. This song is
the aftermath of that club house agreement. Unlike any of the songs
on Beaus$Eros this song abandons all good taste and musings on
matters of the heart. It's a fiery fuck you to everyone and the only
tone that could have been utilized in my first collaborative effort
with Mr. Ian Bavitz. It only exists on this tiny disc, so grab it
while they exist."

Colm K - Nuggets! 16 7"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22195
Irish producer Colm K. returns to BSTRD Boots with lush beat
production and a sampling of some unlikely sources. On the A side,
"Slipping (Into Tomorrow)" builds itself around a classic Steve
Miller Band vocal snippet with deep Hip-Hop drums and live bass
playing that would make Thundercat proud. On the flip, "So!" is a
deft chop on "The Look Of Love" by Gladys Knight & The Pips with a
tough break, big orchestral swells and delayed out vocal moans; it's
nasty!

REACT is a collaborative effort between BeOND, Destruct, and German
producer Broken Fingaz. This album is sure to satisfy your craving
for boom-bap type beats and raps. With 14 heaters you know there's
plenty of room for guests, so they invited Awol One, Self Jupiter,
2Mex, Pigeon John, Gajah, Express Fresh, EQ, Re4M, & singer D.Rae to
join in on the fun. If it's banging beats, witty lyrics and fresh
styles you're looking for, then sit back, hit play, and enjoy the

DJ Third Rail
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?artist=DJ+Third+Rail
San Diego's DJ Third Rail hooked it up with 9 mixtapes from his radio
show! All but two in mp3 format (specified on our site) which means
hours of listening on each mix! Follow the link to find recent 3rd
Degree Burnt mixes made for this month and one for May, plus a
lengthy Dilla tribute and a Best of San Diego mix! To have done this
on your own ... if you even have half the collection he has ... this
would have taken days just to do one mix!

Elusive - Sweet Toof Cassette
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22147
Very limited, cassette-only release. Beat tape with 20 beats in 30
minutes.

J Dilla (Jay Dee) - Rebirth of Detroit CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22154
J Dilla's mother, Mrs. Maureen "MaDukes" Yancey, is pleased to
announce a new album of unreleased material from her son. "Rebirth of
Detroit" features new music from the late producer, as well as
Detroit's finest emcees and musicians who have both worked with
and/or been influenced by J Dilla including Amp Fiddler, Illa J,
Frank Nitt, Chuck Inglish (Cool Kids), Boldy James, Phat Kat, Guilty
Simpson, Jay Electronica, Asher Roth, Danny Brown, DJ J-Rocc of the
Beat Junkies, DJ Dez, Fat Ray, Will Sessions and more. It was
important to Maureen Yancey that this project be a collaboration of
emcees and musicians working in the Detroit Hip Hop community. "This
will bring together artists that have drifted away from one another
and haven't been able to work with each other lately. It's a healing
process for the city. For individuals, it's going to bring back the
love and the passion for the music and for what hip-hop has to
offer." - Maureen "MaDukes" Yancey

J Dilla (Jay Dee) - Jay Dee's Revenge 10"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22156
Next up is this very limited clear vinyl single containing a track
off of Rebirth of Detroit featuring Danny Brown and a track not on
the album "Birthright" featuring Big Tone, Finale and Guilty Simpson.

Kool Keith - Love & Danger CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21929
After single-handedly redefining "warped" as the mind and mouth
behind the Bronx-based Ultramagnetic MC's, "Kool" Keith Thornton aka
Rhythm X, aka Dr. Octagon, aka Dr. Dooom, aka Mr. Gerbik (among other
alias') headed for the outer reaches of the stratosphere with a
variety of solo projects. A onetime psychiatric patient at Bellevue,
Keith's lyrical thematics remained as free-flowing here as they ever
were with the N.Y. trio, connecting up complex meters with fierce,
layers-deep metaphors and veiled criticisms of those who "water down
the sound that comes from the ghetto." Love & Danger is not another
one of Kool Keith's alter ego's or concept projects, this is just him
in his raw form, produced by Dj Junkaz Lou and featuring Def Squad
brainiac MC Keith Murray, and NYC's groundbreaking combo Megabone.

Killer Mike CD/2LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22050
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22051
Back in stock! Williams Street is proud to present the El-P produced
new record from Grammy Award winning MC Killer Mike. Nearly a decade
deep in the rap game, Mike has released five critically hailed
records and won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group
with Outkast for the song "The Whole World." But, in no uncertain
terms, Mike will tell you that R.A.P. Music is his finest
accomplishment. Snares crash like abandoned buildings being blown up.
Synthesizers ooze with a diseased glow of something dying in a toxic
water supply. The effect is like a futuristic junkyard come to life.
In the midst of the decay of post-industrial New York, Killer Mike,
hip-hop inferno, pours fuel on the already inflamed.

Oddisee - People Hear What They See CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22046
In label owner Oddisee's own words: "This album is about influence,
inspiration, perception & reality. Every song was written in an
outside environment, so that I could observe the subjects that would
become my subject matter. All too often in Hip Hop, reality is
limited to that of the artists own, actual experiences. People Hear
What They See is my attempt to liberate the MC from those constraints
& allow reality to be penned other than my own. Listening to
congressmen & lawyers converse on the steps of the supreme court
inspired 'American Greed', Watching a couple argue over the phone in
a bar inspired 'Maybes'. By having a visual representation of my
subject matter, my hopes are that the listener will see them through
the worlds & melodies of my songs."

Oh No feat. MF Doom - 3 Dollars (5-inch record)
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22090
Back in stock! As part of the "Ohnomite" experience Oh No and the
crew at Five Day Weekend have dreamed up something out of the
ordinary. A special 5" vinyl offering of "3 Dollars" from the above
mentioned full length. The A Side contains the full version of "3
Dollars" featuring MF Doom. On the B Side you'll find the
instrumental version of "3 Dollars". This one is guaranteed to be as
collect able as it is unique.

One Be Lo as Rahlo - K.I.C.K. P.U.S.H. CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=18021
Kinda came out of nowhere but here's a brand new album by One Be Lo
as Rahlo, entirely produced by The Autocons. As long time friends and
supporters of One Be Lo we are one of the few places carrying this
independently released cd.

One Be Lo - Laborhood Part Three CDR
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22243
Next up from One Be Lo! The Laborhood mixtape series is a collection
of songs that One Be Lo has made guest appearances on, aside from
solo material. Part Three features 15 tracks, Mixed by Kansas City's
D Will. This collection spans over the last decade, highlighting
various artists throughout the Laborhood.

Rashad & Confidence - The Element of Surprise 2LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21802
Now on vinyl! After putting out Beneficence's critically acclaimed
"Sidewalk Science" album earlier this year, Ill Adrenaline Records is
back to hit the hip-hop world with another throwback-sounding
classic! Rashad & Confidence, two longtime students of the hip hop
they love and grew up on, finally drop their long-awaited debut album
"The Element of Surprise". This up-and-coming MC/producer duo,
hailing from Brooklyn and Philly, merged to create a record with a
timeless sound reminiscent of hip-hop's golden era but with a fresh,
updated feel. With no guest appearances or other producers involved,
Rashad & Confidence embody the sound real hip-hop heads yearn to
hear, going back to the times of Gang Starr and Pete Rock & C.L.
Smooth. The soulful, sample-based, boom bap beats courtesy of
Confidence capture the pure essence of classic hip-hop production
while Rashad's deep and conscious lyrics slice through each track
with topics ranging from various life issues to relationships or just
raw lyrical display.

Shing02 & Chimp Beams - ASDR 2LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21965
Shing02's collaboration (in English) with Brooklyn-based band Chimp
Beams. This project was generated organically out of their
collaboration on the track "Aquatrium" on Chimp Beams' "Slowly"
album. In 2011 Shing02 spent a few months in NYC during which time
Chimp Beams wrote tracks for this new collaboration album. Shing02's
lyrics are mostly about him being NYC with his friends, places he
went to and his hang-outs, and also about Egypt where he was for few
weeks in August 2011. Chimp Beams are Mari Ayabe, Yusuke Yamamoto,
and K-go Mizutani, three Japanese ex-pats who operate out of
Brooklyn, NY. The album was produced with Mari's MPC60 and vintage
synth collection, while Yusuke's organic live instruments occupies
the layers with Shing02's rap yielding some new directions for Chimp
Beams.

Tony Williams - King or the Fool CD + 7-inch feat. Kanye West
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22068
Cousin to Kanye West and has been featured on each of Ye's albums in
one way or another, be it guesting on vocals or as a credited writer.
The talented R&B/Soul Singer and producer in conjunction with
Redefinition Records (Damu, K-Def) finally gets an official solo
debut release! Featuring John Legend, Raheem Devaughn and Kanye West.
7-inch sized case and single features "Another You" plus the instro,
with cd packaged inside.

Trust One (of Formula Abstract) - Introspects Vol. 1 CDR/Introspects

http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22226
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22227
Introspects 1 and 2, two beat tapes put together by San Diego emcee
and Formula Abstract member Trust One. Not many people are aware that
the abstract emcee also puts out some hard beats!

Trust One and Friends - Internally Embedded CDR
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22228
A short but sweet compilation put together by Trust One, previously
only a download. Featuring Orko, Edgar Isreal, 1019 (of Parker and
the Numberman), Mike Tappen and more.

Visioneers - Marc Mac - Hipology 2LP/2xCD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22096
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22097
Produced by Marc Mac (4hero). "Hipology is a collage of some of my
personal influences as a DJ/Producer growing up listening to Hip Hop,
a real eclectic mix of Breaks, Beats, Soul, Jazz and freaky squeaks
and not a sampler in sight. Visioneers is about revisiting my love
for Hip Hop, What is was and what it is; the musical influences and
the culture..."

V-Rock...The Beatsmith - Bad London Jazz vol.1 CDR
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22128
