download music recording program for free???

can someone please give me some info on what is the best free download music recording software to record music on for free i would really appreciate any info thanks

I use "Audacity" Its free and its really good.

That's what I use aswell except I use it to edit songs. Not too hard to use. It's also fun to use for mashing up songs.

Yeah ive been using Audacity for about 6 months now and its is really easy to use. There is a bunch of things you can do to edit what your doing and i know how to use the basics....I need to sit down one day and watch youtube videos on audacity to master everything. There is alot of stuff! Its good for what it is and its FREE! Maybe later on i'll start working with protools.
