FEATURED ITEMS OF THE WEEK: Posdnuos & Dave (De La Soul) - First Serve CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21819 Pos & Dave call it "the soundtrack to a movie that has yet to be made and a fable for our times." Officially, it's called "De La Soul's Plug 1 & Plug 2 Present 'First Serve.'" At its heart it's a story of two young boys from Queens, New York, with big dreams & larger rhymes. Deen Witter (Dave aka Plug 2) and Jacob 'Pop Life' Barrow (Posdnuos aka Plug 1), friends from the seventh grade, are by their own admission, "different, but the differences seem to compliment everything we do." Their name comes from their motto, "first come, first serve, get what you deserve." Pos & Dave were inspired by the acclaimed French production team, Chokolate & Khalid, to create a hip hop fable, tying songs to true stories where they worked best. The result is a movie on wax of sorts, a high-spirited journey of hip hop rhymes, skits & beats where all the action takes place in a hyper-color, animated world.

NEW RELEASES:
Call of Cthulhu - Harvesting The Weak CD EP http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21998 The Call of Cthulhu members are Wormhole, Legion, Qreus and Summon. The project was built when Summon visited the island of Oahu, HI, and met up with the Hawaii new cocoon family. And then Cthulhu, The mystical beast arose from the sacred waters of the pacific, preparing to release its fury. And that cover art of that creature holding the mic, is one of the emcees on this insane little EP! If you ever wondered what Demons sounded like and what kind of beats they would prefer...it's this!!! Think of the intensity of Army of The Pharaohs mixed with the obscurity of The Shapeshifters. The beats are hard as hell and by the time it's over you'll want to hit repeat! So if your a hardcore hip hop fix then definitely cop this! For fans of Apakalypse and Orko! Imagine that team up! Infinito 2017 - Conquest of the More v.2 CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21857 Thought provoking timeless music that's sure to make you think. The combination of positive Chicago South Side emcee Infinito 2017 and Senegalese / New Orleans Producer The Geaux by way of Paris, France, brings you classic poetical musical teachings over a variety of sounds that are sure to please the listener. This is the type of music that makes you want to make a difference in life. The backdrop of this album is free thought mixed in with innercity overtones reminiscent of Gil Scott Heron's warm tenors over drums. Visual Artist / Emcee/ Filmmaker Marcellous Lovelace better known to music listeners as Infinito 2017 touches on multiple topics inside his epilogue styled writing that doubles as a published book of poetry. The production is high energy and very narrative like handled by The Geaux who uses kicks and snares similar to Chick Webb mixed with Clyde Stubblefield on this epic adventure in sound. Recorded in Paris France on a recent World Tour. Infinito 2017 - Never Artificial 7" http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21910 "Never Artificial" produced by Da Beatminerz; "Where Ever I Go" produced by Fatnice. Eric Lau & Guilty Simpson - The Mission 12" EP http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21823 (Originally released a month ago, but sold out immediately at Access -- and at the distributor. We finally got a restock!) When Eric Lau embarked on producing a new EP he requested to work with one artist and one artist only, Guilty Simpson. The pair had already collaborated for esteemed label Fat City on 2007's "For The D" and the demand to continue the output came not only from fans but from the artists themselves. The Mission EP marks a progression in Lau's production and takes Simpson's lyrics in a impressive and seldom visited direction, often reminiscing about his youth in his hometown of Detroit. Also featuring on the EP are Fatima, Olivier Daysoul, Chris "Daddy" Dave, Alex Bonfanti and Damu The Fudgemunk. Messy Marv - Definition of Greed vol.1 CD/Shots Fired CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21918 http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21968 Two brand new Bay Area compilations from Messy Marv! Featuring Mistah FAB, Jacka, Gutta Mob, B-Legit and more! Oddisee - Mello Music 7" Series #3 7" http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21801 The third in the limited series features label owner Oddisee doing what he does best as a double threat on the mic and beats with "Slow It Down" plus a track featuring yU and the instro to "Slow It Down." Previous releases in the series featured Boog Brown with Georgia Ann Muldrow and Gensu Dean. Next up in May is Soko. Murmur Breeze - Foreshore Reverie LP http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21999 Murmur Breeze are an alt-rap duo who seamlessly combine the traditions of both music and art in their surrealistic melange of creative compositions. A place where music, literature and visual art meet, coming together to describe an entirely cohesive, yet dream- like world, which so closely mirrors our own, but still pushes forward into unknown and perhaps impossible territories, guiding the listener on a path which takes in both the familiar and the mysteries, the comic and the tragic, the starkly real and the disorientatingly mysterious. With each release being a potent brew of overwhelming proportions. Twelve songs seamlessly woven together to transport you on a maddeningly surreal journey through the psychedelic soundscapes and disorientating prose which AbSUrd and James P Honey both provide in ascending waves. Featuring a host of collaborators, the album is awash with a staggering amount of wonderful musical turns and closely cut lyrical observations, deftly maneuvering between the bitingly satirical and the wildly theatrical. Auxiliary musical accompaniment comes in the form of performances from Jamie Romain, Michael Rea and Nadia D' Alo, whilst extra lyrical turns are taken by the mighty Mildew, Babel Fishh and jamesreindeer, and the whole album carefully guided through the mixing stages by jamesreindeer.

Quantic & Alice Russell - Look Around the Corner CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21783 Look Around The Corner' sees the duo of Quantic and Alice Russell revisiting the spirit of their hugely popular previous collaborations (with the Quantic Soul Orchestra, for example) but this time backed by Quantic's world-renowned Combo Barbaro and recorded in Quantic's adopted home city of Cali, Colombia. The combined talents of singer Alice Russell and producer/musician Will Holland (aka Quantic) have always been a match made in heaven, and the vibrant sound of this beautiful album is a fresh blend of pure sweet soul and blues, with overtones of gospel and folk music and the added Latin swing of the Combo Barbaro. Pushing the concept of their previous work together, they wanted to have a Latin undertone to the style. Rather like the soul records made in Miami and New York in the 70s, or the disco from the Bronx, it has the accent of Latin players but still a lot of the blues and soul sound; Chicago's Chess label was a big influence from a production aesthetic. The record features Mike Simmonds (Alice Russell's regular strings guru who joined them in Colombia from London for the recording), as well as the revered pianist Alfredito Linares, bassist Fernando Silva and conga player Freddy Colorado, all from the Combo Barbaro. Wilson Viveros, from coastal town Buenaventura, was an invited drummer - more known for playing timbales for Guayacan, Fruko and Joe Madrid, he is also an incredible kit drummer. Also on drums for some songs was Larry Joseph, a talented Jazz drummer who resides and plays in Cali. Alfredito is the instrumentalist star of the show, sprinkling his magical and charismatic brand of bluesy, boogaloo piano over the album. Roddy Rod (Maspyke) - Oakwood Grain II 2LP http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21824 Despite producing music for over 15 years, DJ Roddy Rod has remained one of underground hip-hop's best kept secrets. As a vital member of two landmark underground collectives (Maspyke and DC's Low Budget), Roddy has worked with countless top-notch artists, including Q-Tip, Edo G, Doug E Fresh, Planet Asia, Wordsworth, Kev Brown, Oddisee, and many more. His instrumental opus Oakwood Grain was released in Japan in 2005, and he went on to release the Rawkus-certified Blunt Park Sessions in 2007. Now, Roddy is ready to unveil his instrumental follow-up Oakwood Grain II. Solograph - CAP.LOC./Capital Location CD http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=22000 Cap. Loc. (short for Capital Location) is an "ode to" compilation led by D.C.'s own Solograph, and assisted by DMV-connected artists: J. Sands (of Lone Catalysts), Nick tha 1da, Disturbed Individuals, Pyragon, Nondascript, Ghost Boogie, Words Axis, and Precise One. Also, once-crew members of Hibernation, Amphibians, and Goonies share some historical D.C. Hip Hop moments first-hand between songs to add that special authenticity. Cap. Loc. is entirely produced by Solograph, with the exception of "No Time," produced by Nick tha 1da. Sporadically created between 2008 and 2011, while finishing up other releases, Solograph basically operated every machine visually and audibly necessary for Cap. Loc. to become a tangible product, calling his own deadlines. Torae - For the Record(red vinyl) 2LP http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21843 Known for a roster of impressive collaborations, Torae has assembled an awe-inspiring crew of beatsmiths for accompaniment. From the renowned Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Diamond D and Large Professor; to those Torae labels "new legends," 9th Wonder, Khrysis, Fatin, Illmind, Eric G., Marco Polo and Nottz. For The Record is sure to transcend the expectations of new listeners and staunch supporters alike. A refreshing return to the multifarious nature of 2008's "Daily Conversation", the project is a notable change from 2009's Double Barrel with Marco Polo, and this year's mono-thematic Heart Failure EP. Fans will hear his skills sharpened; an array of cadences and intricately weaved rhyme patterns. He is also at his most vulnerable and transparent; providing a view through a wide-angle lens at the man behind the MC, as heard on "Panorama" and "Reflection." According to Torae, the choice to forego lyrical assists was deliberate. "No one can tell my story like me." Yppah - Eighty One CD/2LP http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21830 http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=21831 Dope instrumental work once again by Yppah! This is his third album with Ninja Tune, and remember, they don't just let any old hack on the label. You actually have to be good! And that's why we keep picking up Yppah's releases. It's like he's studied the great instrumental hip hop producers that came before him and really focused on the things like the cinematic aspects of someone like DJ Shadow, who can draw you into his world with heavily layered beats. Landscape and memory have always played a central part in the music of Joe Corrales Jr. aka Yppah (Happy backwards, pronounced "yippah"). It's what gives his tunes both their sense of place, their physicality, and their ethereal - almost nostalgic - sweetness. His third album for Ninja Tune reflects a change in the landscape around him. Midway through the process of recording the demos for what became Eighty One, Corrales started making regular trips to Galveston, on the Texas Gulf coast, to surf. So energized was he by his experiences, he left his home in Texas and moved to Long Beach, California. Unsurprisingly then, he says that the images he had in his head as he made his new music were of the sea and the beach. "I wanted a lot of the songs to feel like a warm wash," he explains. The record takes its title from the year Corrales was born and, perhaps the very act of moving away from childhood locales stirred up "memories from random times in my life. Like I was trying to recreate certain feelings I had at different points in my life with melodies, if that makes any sense." RESTOCKS: http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/restocks.php Check out the rest of the restocks we got from April 2nd - 6th using the above link! You'll find some rare ones back in-stock from Eric Lau!
