But speaeking on the heart of L.A i would say it's moree like Civic Center, USC, Sports Colisium, etc., mainly where all the sports are at...not to mention the general are of Downtown. There's no like one specific spot ya kno. Traffic does suck ass here though. But you learn what times to drive and what not. Yea theres pollution but thats everywhere with the freeways. Unless you live next to the beach..I'm more of a city type dude tho . I can't deny the beach tho cause i like to surf.
sweet, i hear you. i like to surf too, what spots you hit up? anyway, it might seem like i was trying to talk shit on downtown, but youre right, even with the bad aspects, there is more than plenty of shit to do there in downtown la. better than most downtown spots i've been too.

yeah, i was more into the halloween shit when i was in h.s. school too. back then queen mary just started up (i believe) and so did magic mountian....but i neveer went to those spots. however, i have to admit, i went a couple of years ago for the first time in years to knotts, with a lady, just to bring back the memories. it wasnt like i remember it being a kid, but it still was still fun( kinda).... getting super stoned by the smoke machines, and just being hi as hell, was the fun part.

great point man, couldnt have said it better, even thou i still dig the newer, cleaner shit, maybe slightly more than you. your point about hard work is key.

Yo Alan, "uncultured and unrefined review"?. Dude you clearly fancy yourself as some sort of shakespearean, high society, intellect of hiphop. Take your long winded siskel+ebert imitation act and shove it. Aren't you the guy who just listened to Illmatic for the first time and wrote about it within the last year or so?. Nuff said.

Old Souls is a good song, agreed. The other 14 on that album don't do much for me, particularly the others you mentioned. Why? Well the music and the lyrics[eligh gotta chill with filter effects, sounds top40] don't sound good to my ear. That ok to say or does that mean I don't know anything about shit?

What do I know about the game? Enough to say Elighs rant seemed mad tired, old, and played the fuck out. The bully took your lunch money? Shit, but I been hearing that story/message far too long. Figure it out.
you probably like the old legends stuff..but in the music world you got to evovle in the rap game..it happens to everybody..just like when murs signed to warner bro's people hated on his new shit but me i've been a fan of LL since mystikjourneymen.com and honestly I like there old shit and new...i have a open mind to music cause i grew up listening to every thing..besides if you have different opinion and some one else thinks your wrong 1 who cares cause eligh and grouch probably dont care you gave your opinion no disrespect but this is america right so speak your mind ..all im saying is keep giving us your thoughts FTW...

I think it's time to state the obvious. In today's world with free music, albums are not bought, they are stolen online. Albums are not purchased, so with no investment from the listener, most will not listen to an album over and over again. People steal the album online, listen to it a couple times and some other album comes out the next week and they move on. If you bought the Legends albums, like I still do, you would be more invested to listen to it over and over again. I didn't like a lot of Legends CD's initially. Even some of the classics took a while to grow on me. I've been meaning to post this forever. No one, not even myself, listens to albums like I did 10 years ago because there is so much good music. People say hip hop is dead and I say the opposite, it's alive and well in every corner of the US. Cali, Northwest, Midwest, East Coast and Down South have huge followings. It used to be Cali and NY with some others in the mix. I find myself doing this all the time. Get an album online, listen to it twice, and it falls to the background with more good music coming. When I spend some money on an album, I am invested to listen and really make a clear opinion on "was this worth my $10-$15 bucks?". If I steal an album and its a good album, I really only remember the couple bangers, not the hidden gems. The CD ends up as okay or weak, when 10 years ago, I would have bought it and played it until I really saw the entire album as a whole and realized the quality.

Company Flow, Lootpack, Kool Keith, Scaramanga, Smif-n-Wesson are also examples of classic artists/albums that took forever before they became classic in my eyes. Had to invest the money, listen to it over and over and it finally becomes classic. If I stole these albums, I would have listened to them twice and said they are weak.

Great post. I completely agree with it being hard to give an album enough listens with there being so much good music out there. I almost always have to listen to an album at least 5 times to really decide whether or not I like it and the good albums just get better from there. It has been difficult juggling Automatik Static, Parallel Uni-Verses, and Classic Rock over the last month. I like to immerse myself in an album for an extended period and with so much music out there it's tough not to jump from album to album. I've found Del's newer releases needing quite a bit of time to really understand. The first time I heard Funk Man I thought it was pretty lackluster. I've now listened to it around 50 times and love it. I actually think automatik statick is even better. Del's doin some crazy shit.

This was off topic but parkerc made some great points. I hadn't thought about how paying for an album would influence how many times you listened to it.
