A white rapper likes the feel/sound/vibe of hip hop but can't necessarily relate to the gritty/hard hitting roots of the music and its prevailing subject matter and therefore expands its definition to fit into something he can relate to.

Some are talented and make some pretty good shit (Eligh, El-P), others are talented but sometimes fail in terms of making hip hop(Sage Francis, Aesop Rock), most are either wiggers or simply untalented fools.

And that's serious.

Kinda, I agre to an extent, and I may be to white to say this, but isn't hip hop "bigger than" that by now? (hehehe... )

"White Rap" would be a generalization, thats the best response to give whoever the fuck u were talkin too... But now that u mention it, thats a good question. White rap is everything, cuz if u ask me, I'd consider Mac Dre white rap in the same sense that I see Slug as white rap...

I personally think that it shouldn't matter what color you are. This whole "mainstream" vs. "underground" vs. "nerd" rap needs to quit. If you can dig the music then it don't matter what color you or the artist are. Maybe some artists can better relate to a certain ethnic group. But, if you personally can't relate to 'em it doesn't mean you should knock 'em.....

I don't know if this was what this thread was going for but it was the first thing that I thought of when I read it....
