i was listening to some old Gil Scott-Heron earlier today.... what an effect he had on hip hop, its amazing. imo hes one of the guys who influenced many of the rappers commonly considered influential today

plus he has nice lyrics

"The revolution will not make you look five pounds thinner,
because, the revolution will not be televised, brother.
There will be no picture of you and Willie May
pushing that shopping cart down the block on the dead run,
or trying to slide that color stolen television into a stolen ambulance.
NBC will not be able to predict the winner at 8:32
or report from 29 districts,
The revolution will not be televised."

anybody on here familiar with this fella?

He's the fucking man. Seen him live twice and they were two of the most amazing shows I've ever seen. Pretty much all his shit, especially the albums with Brian Jackson, is classic material.

I have the Storm Music 12", the Space Shuttle 12" and of course T.R.W.N.B.T 12".... all original pressings that i cherish very much.

I have not seen him live though.
