Non-Phixion's album has pretty hyped...Not most ever, but I thought it had quite a bit of hype for a hip-hop record.

"fantastic damage" was highly anticipated and lived up to its name.... "Private Press" was long over due, but if you read my earlier posts, was not neccesarily up to par... there was a ton of promos for Built from Scratch... but dont get me started on that albumn.... Audioslave was supposed to be a legendary supergroup where god meets budda... but its just not the same without Zach...

dang, i cant think of my fav hype album but the first 2 wu-tang albums were hype as fuck. i would choose 'funcrusher plus' over 'fantastic damage' of being more hype in my opinion. its all good though. busta rhymes and redman should be up there for hype albums. its hard to say though. hmmm

50Cent - Get Rich
Doggystyle
The Chronic 2001

The list goes on, but.....

I'd say the only one of those that even remotley lived up to the hype surrounding it was Doggystyle. Well, and Chronic 2001 i suppose.

i agree with snoop dogg's doggystyle

. i still have the source mag with him and dre on the cover, when snoop was the lebron james of rap.

Doggystyle and Wu-Tang Forever are by far the most highly anticipated hip-hop albums of all-time. Doggystyle because it was Snoop's debut. Forever because of the numerous delays, which the Wu were notorious for during their first wave of releases. I recall Fear of a Black Planet being highly anticipated as well.

lbfam, that aim conversation (although a bit overboard for a personal quote) reminds me of a time when some chump named orphan pulled something similar yet worse with me. i still have the conversation, it's hilarious. homie got my aim from somebody, hit me up, and started dissing me haha. he told me i was biting his jungle beats. i'd never even heard one of his jungle beats. it was really hilarious. i wanna make a tshirt out of it. haha.

anyway, hype albums - Aceyalone "Book of Human Language", Hieroglyphics "3rd Eye Visions" were both hyped due to the fact that both parties' previous releases were so dope. All my homies back in NC were awaiting those 2 in a serious way. We preordered that 3rd eye Vision like a month before it came out haha. Both albums were fulfilling. peace.

the last album that was hyped a ton that i seen was Felt. word was going around on that shit for months and months. i heard about that shit like 8 or 9 months before it came out. Slug and Murs doing an album? what? that shits gonna be tight! i kept asking about that shit and they only needed the cuts, then everything hadnt been mastered, then it was just kicking it for a while. when it finally dropped, shit was dope. peace.

I EMPHATICALLY AGREE THAT SNOOP DOGG
1st ALBUM HAD FAR 2 MUCH HYPE AS WELL
AS DOGG POUNDS 1st ALBUM
I MYSELF ALSO FEEL THAT NAS 1st
ALBUM RECIEVED QUITE A BIT OF HYPE

WITHOUT HYPE ALBUMS THAT ARE CLASSIK
TEND 2 SHOW HOW INCREDIBLE TRUE RAP
CAN BE

Wow, good call- I almost forgot about that one. Major hype, and fairly disappointing, but what isn't in comparison to It Takes A Nation Of Millions. De La Soul Is Dead was hyped up big too but lived up to it over time, but didn't go over so well at first. Nas' second album got a lot of hype, and sucked horribly. And Little Brother is getting SOOO much hype right now, but I picked up the 12" and I'm really not feeling em.

What about albums that dropped with little fan fare and then blew up later? The Chronic was like that. I think a lot of people forget that despite it being such a huge hit, it took a while for it to blow up. Same for Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde. That album was out for like a year before people started jocking it.

obviously this is and underground site mostly bout the legends. but lets be real. how is any sort of underground hype gonna compare to 50 or snoop or the clan?

i guess personal hypedness vs. majority hype.

but i took the question to be the most hype albume of all time (assuming it is hip-hop/rap, cause i am sure there is some old school ish we are all over looking...beetles...elvis...stones...floyd...zep..whoever)

but limited to this genre...

i feel the pm's list
ug fiend's list

and for myself the first ODB and Meth albums i was highly anticipating...shit all of the clans solo albums...rza, gza, ghost and rae. damn those 6 albums alone are some of my faves.

but on a mass hype deal, i think pm has got it plus Nas. and chronic 2001, return o dre n snoop.

bingo
