A bootleg copy of Madvillian has been out for months. I think the official release will have a few changes. Just finished listening to it not too long ago, its pretty cool.

Honestly I think it is one of the greatest hip hop albums ever made..Madlib's production is an entity in itself and Doom's lyrics are clever, amusing and ill...the whole album flows really well and it's easy to rock this all the way through (sometimes even twice in one day)..there is no filler and it is actually good it is so short...although "'Strangeways"and "Raid" deserve to be longer...I hear their will be another if it is anyhting like this joint then ....man..I don't even know...

phhhh, jaylib is pure trash. J dilla needs to shut his grill and just produce, i swear. that is the most lyrically shitty album i think hes ever been part of IMO. quas cant even save em...
Man, I'm gonna be out here alone but I gotta say it...I don't like Madlib. I don't understand why everyone thinks he's the best damn thing since sliced bread...everything I've heard has sounded pretty standard. It's not bad, but it's not good to me because there's nothing "different" about it...nothing that sets him apart from all the other uninspired hiphop. Anyway, this opinion is based off just a small amount of listening - it IS informed, but by no means am I saying all his stuff is garbage because I'm sure there's lots I haven't heard.
All that being said I'm looking forward to checking out Madvillian at the listening station when it hits the stores...maybe Doom will be able to get me into Madlib's music.
^if you like reggae, check madlib's blunted in the bombshelter....that got me really feelin madlib. its a crazy mix of trojan records artists.

i agree, a LOT better than jaylib from what ive heard.....
and in response to Blue:
i like madlib because he anything BUT standard, his wide range of styles and numerous alter-egoes come to mind. there is a lot thats "different" about his music. i dont hear a whole lot of others sounding like quas, blue note sampling, or one man quintets in the uninspired hip hop you are talking about. definitely give mad another listen

you like doom and not madlib? i think their production styles are kind of similar, being that their both filthy as hell. pick up madvillain, i think madlibs prod on this one will make you a beleiver, its mosty prod by madlib w/ doom on the mic, shit sends chills down my spine

if you've heard Next Levels on King Geedorah or Rhymes like Dimes. it's alot of that. I think DOOM should've linked up with MADLIB long ago. They suit each other well. Worth your 15 in my opinion. Solid album. Beats down Jaylib.

must be....
1. Yesterday's New Quintet
2. Shades of Blue
3. Listen to Come on Feet's melody (who does this.. who?)
Madlib does what 9th Wonder and Kanye West are trying to do so badly. And has been for a decade.

its not good. it has its moments, but not too great. i honestly think its the worst thing madlib has done. and maybe the best thing dilla has done........
i liked jaylib a lot too.. sure.. jaydee's lyrics get a little repetitive with the "real live nigga shit" but i thought it was hot.. the beats and the flows..the one major drawback was the fact that there was not one song where the 2 traded verses or went line for line.
the cover of "efil4zaggin" was the icing on the cake for me.
i'll be picking madvillain up after my next non-rent paycheck.

I like the tracks I've heard so far. I'll defenitely be purchasing.
Meatgrinder and All Caps are on point.
Jaylib
It was okay. To me, the overall production sounded like Jay Dee taking the Madlib approach. When I first heard about the teamup though, I was kinda hoping it would be the other way around.

I like this album, the beats have some crazy sampling, DooM doesn't come as hard as I've heard him on some other shit recently, but it's still tight.. gotta be blazed while listening to this
sans interest

I think this album is one of the better recent doom releases. Too bad the retail has a few re-recorded tracks from the advance that actually sound worse. From what I heard the advance had some unfinished/test stuff in it that they redid in the final... and to me it sounded more raw and less polished/boring.
