What else do you listen to? Old or new.. give me some good recommendations and what your preferences are. By the way, I like all kinds of music.. rock/metal/punk, classic jazz, blues, reggae (ska, rocksteady), acid jazz/trip hop/electronica (picky about this genre) you know pretty much anything..

also, even if this has been posted a hundred times, i dont feel like digging through several hundred threads, so just take a minute and drop a couple names.. thanks.. and be sure to tell me what kind of music it is..

ok lets narrow it down to indie/punk rock.. since thats what im feelin the most right now.. some of my favorites are black heart procession/three mile pilot, sunny day real estate, fugazi, muse, modest mouse to name a few...

I've found that when you seek something to give you that natural high like that first time. Walk into a record store and look at everything then pick out whatever catches your eye. If you can give some a test listen and usually more than half are likeable.

I would have never discovered two of my favorite artists if I hadn't decided to browse the "Funk Bin". Turns out they were a two of my dad's favorites also. TOWER OF POWER and HERBIE HANCOCK.

the only indie bands I can think of are DILLENGER ESCAPE PLAN, THE PIXIES, and a bunch of Nuge cover bands.

im just not feelin classic r&b and funk these days, i mean dont get me wrong i went through my phases with zapp&roger, parliament, tower of power and of course the greats like marvin gaye and earth wind & fire... i mean i grew up on motown, shiet good old kiss fm in the bay area, between the sheets baby...

the gap band had the hardest grooves..

also... the s.o.s. band was pretty tight along with midnight star.

but be on the lookout for an emo-ish band outta the bay named "a decade apart" and a speed metal band named "alter ego." that's family!

If you like that Ben Harper or Jack Johnson-style rock, check out September Sessions. It's a soundtrack to surf movie from a couple years ago. Very nice selections on it.
