Ive been listening to alot of atmos lately and ive been thinking about this sad clown analogy ge refers to alot, it really makes me think. Maybe it reminds me of ME .

but i just wanted to know of anybody had any knowledge on this , just some facts that can help me understand why the clown is sad, or what he is refering to?

i looked around and i found this poem, it reveals some abut im still having some fustrating understanding?

Today things seemed different,

As I walked through the Park

A strange sight reached my eyes,

I saw a clown on a bench

He was crying

Sitting quietly on the park bench

Face Paint ruined by glove-covered hands

Tears coursed openly across his red rubber nose,

Down to his mud soaked oversized shoes

I took a seat next to him,

And asked him the cause of his unhappiness

He said he had no where to go

He said his life would end soon

I laughed

It wasn't funny

But consider the irony

A sad clown?

I laughed

He said it wasn't a joke

"Help me," he pleaded

And what was my reply?

"Help yourself"

After all he was a clown

He was there to make us laugh

He couldn't do that anymore

Maybe it was time to say good-bye

The clown said good-bye to us all

He left this cruel world

Next time maybe I won't laugh

Well, when slug was just a little slug, him and his dad were walkin down Franklin Ave in Minneapolis, and this street performer walked up, dressed as a clown and aksed them for some change, when Slugs dad refused, the clown pulled out a desert E and blew his own head off, right there in front of slug. And the way the bullet went into his skull, made cerebral fluid come out of his eyes, so Slug said "Daddy? Why's that clown crying?" i guess just out of shock, being that 40% of his head was splattered on little slug's kicks.

Anyway, thats the type of thing to leave a lasting impression.

I don't get it, if the clown shot his dad and his dad was the one with brain fluid coming out of his eyes and not the clown why would slug ask why they clown was crying? wouldn't it be his dad that looked like he was crying?

Where did you hear this stuff anyways?

he stated in an interview that he made up his parents suicide ("My dad made it until maybe a year later when they found his suicide inside of a grain elevator") on that last track on Lucy Ford...... he point blank said he made that up to prove a point that basically childhood is irrelevant to the man you become.

I always thought Lucy = Heroin.... only because the first time i saw Atmos, Slug came out on stage with a twist around his arm.

like i said.. he's biting smokey robinson..

"this smile on my face.. is only there tryin to fool the public"

the clown's crying partly because that's how he feels inside.. partly because the exterior is all false, and he knows it. hiding behind laughter and jokes.. like a lot of people.

then, when the clown tries to express himself seriously.. nobody believes him.. they think it's a joke.. like the little boy who cried wolf...

i always used to think about that sad clown thing.....that song is sick

give me a pack of ballons i would build you a farm became hopeless when they took away both my arms

itsw like a clown that is always a clown . he hids his troubles behind a painted smile on his face........

something like that...i glad someone else really feels that shit..

peace

my take is much like the above.

the irony of a sad clown. smiles and jokes for the world and tears for his pillow. how the tears smear his makeup and eventually reveal him as nothing but a man. a man just as vunerable, pitiful as the rest of humanity. how oportunistic people are, they will stay for the jokes and leave him alone with his tears.

that's my two cents.

Yeah, I agree. It's just the irony...I've always thought of most clowns as being sad and depressed anyways, not sure why. Just seems like their normal lives (if they existed) would be fucked up.

Still don't get why he named seven of his CDs (each tour CD) Sad Clown Bad Dub #.

Whatever...Slug is crazy. And SCBD 7 is the shit....anyone agree?

No, Lucy is real. I've seen pictures of her. She's not made up at all. She does represent lost love, but she's a real person. Not sure if that's her real name though...

slug's girl is the girl who lucy ford is based on. her name isnt lucy ford though. i think lucy ford is just suppose to represent all girls that have treated him like shit, and he considers them devil.

it's comments like that that start all of this. maybe you should just be the bigger man and keep that shit to yourself? unless you like everythread turning into a giant diss-fest, then by all means continue.

this may sound pretty hypocritical comming from me, but i don't have the self control to let comments like that pass without getting my two cents in, but maybe you do.
