I dont blame Jay Z one bit, being broke is wacker than making wack music
I wouldnt even buy all the fancy shit..........

I would sell out. I mean it would be nice to able take care of my family and friends they way have done so for me. I don't think I would go and buy hella stupid stuff. I would probably try and a bunch of property. But thats just me.

money isnt really my goal in life, but if the oppurtunity falls into my lap I would be an idiot not to take it.
I'd probably just save most of it and give it to my kids or some cliche shit like that.

90% say they wouldn't sellout but 90% really would if they had the chance!

I'd do it for sure. Given the chance to finally be able to buy the stuff for my family that they've always wanted would mean a lot more than what the rest of the world would think of me.

I would most likely sell out also to make a living. Support my family and send kids to college and provide the wanted for myself.

I wouldnt make music that I didnt like. Unless I could do it like as a joke, under a different name, but have people think I was serious, and make money off that, and then just continue to make my "real" stuff and get that out there too I'd do that. but I wouldnt want to spend more time making the joke music than I did making the "real" stuff. Jay-Z is not a "sell out" either.

Nothing against him as a man but I threw a party when Jay Z's supposed "Last" album came out. Let's hope it stands. Maybe he is selling in, and he gonna put out some fresh underground shit. No he'll probably just make a quick billion off Hova O's, Jigga's Jock Itch Powder, Jay Z's Jacobin Street Gear Line, or whatever else he can get his name on.
P.S. I would sell out in a second.

Well put.
i think i'd get a job at mcDonalds before i'd sell out, honestly. not that i wouldnt be tempted, but life is more about respect than money to me and i doubt i'd even be able to respect myself, whislt sittin in my mansion or drivin my new car
.....unless i had kids or some shit, cos that would change everything, i've seen people change soo much after havin kids so who the fuck knows...

madseen,
since this "sell out" thread seems to be directed at music, i was wondering if you would sell yourself out to the white man and be an uncle tom, just to make some scrills?

Corporate America, and the Music industry is dominated by fat white men. so by you "sellin out" to make money from your music, your selling out to the white man, helping him get richer by exploiting you.

so, by even buying music under some label, such as SONY, your helping the rich white man get richer. If its not independent, "burn" it.

bayluv415

what generalization? I just said corporate america is controlled by white men. Maybe there not fat and maybe they arnt all white, but the vast majority is. I dont have the stats, but youd have to be blind not to see it.

the "white man" exploits white people too. basically anyone who understands how the world works knows that the nature of exploitation isnt based on racism, but greed. the dominant exploit the weak no matter who or what they are...just as long as they're weak...it's very animalistic. the elite blacks in nigeria viciously exploit their own people in the name of oil...or greed...you could blame that solely on white people but it's more complex than that...rich white people run the oil companies but greedy black people cooperate (or "sell out") and choose oil over their own people...who's to blame? everyone.
So bringing skin color into this really deviates from the real issue we're talking about..which is greed. That's all this thread is about. Nothing else. We're talking about what people will do for money. Both black and white can be greedy...both black and white are exploited...

When i said "you" i meant all of us, not just minorities. However the commercial rap industry is mostly black artists.
"In a world where all HipHop is based on commercialism. Where A&R's pimp young black kids, not really understanding what they...did...that for, albums and still not paid..." -Sunspot Jonz. Animal Instinct. "The Underworld"
I wouldn't sell out but I would sell my record.
and stack enough to leave the U.S. for a bit.
Depends on the circumstances. I don't make music, but if I did I would "sell out". As a visual artist it really depends though. In the way that Shepard Fairy "sold out" - yeah, I'd go that way. But if someone wanted to use an image of mine (to launch me into the stratosphere as far as fame/money go) but wanted me to remove a part of the image that I felt couldn't be removed I wouldn't do it. I'm always getting in trouble (at work usually) because of my principles - to me it's not so much the outcome of the event but the principles behind it that get my goat.
