the main reason i was raised in hiphop:

my older sister listened to it so that was an influence.
but mainly, id see on tv all these strange rock bands wearing makeup and boas, looking like women. i thought it was gross. depeche mode, poison, all those big hair bands. it was pathetic to watch them dancing around like fruits. i lived in national city where there was always gang violence, drugs, blah blah blah... so when i saw rap videos like nwa, ice cube, and fools like that, i immediatley connected with it. they were actually talkin bout shit i could relate to and wearing clothes i was used to seein on a daily basis. they werent wearin no pink boa with lipstick and mascara. that gay rock n roll shit is lame.
