is it just me or this cd a fuckign classic????
i used to talk mad shit about el-p i thought he was wack but i never really listened to his music, i was turned off by the crazy space age samples he used and his sometimes difficult to follow flows
i grew to like it tho, and i always seem to come back to this album every few months and its just as fresh as the first time i got into it
very few albums i can say that about.....
not a classic....
but its aight....i get real bored with it though

I'd call Fan-Dam a near-classic. One of the best albums of 2002. He took a bunch of musical chances on that album and delivered for the most part. I can't call it a classic because the last couple of tracks were average. His best production was on Cold Vein which was a classic. I can never stop listening to Pigeons.

Personally, I couldn't even listen to it. Definitely not feeling it at all.

Not a classic, good listening, but it just doesnt have the classic qualities, the beats far outweigh the lyrics...
"hit you in the head with a plastic magnet" is my fave line tho for sure

t.o.j., stepfather factory, delorean and a couple others are some of my favorite tracks. still have to skip through a couple tho.

i just think his originality is sicc.......
like
check the beat for deep space 9mm
no one else has done the drums to a song like that
he was able to take that idea and make it sound sick
i duno maybe i'm giving praise where none is due but its tight to see some dope hip hop that doesnt sound like every other god damn thing out there

well what the fuck dude? I remeber arguing with you like 2 months ago cuz you were like "el-p sucks". nah, I just kidding. yeah, he makes sick ass beats. I think the second half of "T.O.J." is the highlight of the album. Beautiful "noise collage" if you will.

Seems like a lotta people hate on el-p cuz they don't feel his style as an mc, and that's understandable; personally I like it. You definitely can't front on his skills as a producer though. FanDam a Classic? I dunno. Definitely a damn good album. However, if I had to pick one el affiliated project, you best believe its gonna be funcrusher plus.
^ some of his production IS garbage... though...

Its a really goog piece of music but sometimes its too noisy so you cant understand the lyrics....
by the way I always get a kind of aggression when I listen to it
I went through a new york phase for a while...cannibal ox, Aesop Rock and what not. I really sat down and bumped the album and El-P is talented in what he does. Some can't grasp it though and I don't blame um cause sometimes his stuff is kinda drastic. But songs like the Nang, and that one love song he's got on there is pretty tight too.
