Just copped a new mic.....

an MXL 990.... great fucking deal. Lovely sounding mic. Fuck an Oktava (thats what i was gonna get before i tested out the MXL). This joint sounds way crisp. Nice flat response, and the low end would make Barry White jealous.

I only paid 79 dollars brand new. Considering the fact that it has a gold sputter diaphram (think Neuman mic's..) and the range is off the chain. (Silky high end, super flat sound, and a low end that would make Barry White proud....) It was a fucking steal............

It came with the case and spider(shock)mount too.

One thing about condensers is that the best ones are either the cheapo's or the higher range 600 and up mics. The mid range like 3,4 hundred dollar ones are the weakest. Man thats a steal. Hope you got a decent pre-amp.

Yeah, i'm using the 48v phantom power off of my Behringer Eurorack MX 602A for the pre-amp........... It's nice to be able to E the mic, also......

That is how it works with condensors. The best ones i've heard are the Blues (obviously..) for like 2100 bucks, and the newer, cheaper ones. Of course you can't go wrong with the classics either.... Shure's, etc......
