Who's seen it? The long version is actually real fresh. The band get's busy and the message of the commercial is actually real good. It's dope to see things like this.

about this! I'm not sure how I feel about it? The two messages kinda cancel themselves out! I mean, c'mon, it's Coka-Cola! Them and Starbucks rule the friggin world!

but it's not like it's the first time something like this has been done, and it's not like the worse one i've seen (prolly BEP doing Dr Pepper).. Besides, I love me some Coca-Cola Classic!

The long version is pretty good though. he actually drops a verse and it's not about Coke at all. Sadly, it is about "keepin it real"... i dunno, good overall design on the whole piece though.

it is cool, and have you seen the Dr. Pepper with LL and Run DMC?
Jam Master Jay is in it, and after they dedicated it to him

(Mya)
Try to make it real compared to what
Gotta get to me know

(Common)

They say money make a man strange
Is it money or he don't understand change?
Funny to be real we campaign
If it's you then just do your thang thang
Maintain who we are as the game change
Everybody wanna star it's the same game
I ain't travel this far to do the same thang
It's a trip how the real now is mainstream.

Refrain
The real can't be bought or sold, taught or told
The boy tried to keep it but he lost his soul
On the road to riches but he lost control
'bout the eye of the needle I was often told
If you stand for nothing, you'll fall for the gold
In ya actions all is told
You in the game, gotta have ball control
You see fame is all a role
Through lights, action, carpet and camera snappin'
Pop life, is it a demand for passion?
Are we really real or are we actin'?
Where do the fake smiles and masks end?
Rationalize,

To my people keep rockin' on....
To my people keep rockin' on

well.......Commons in some wannabe Jimi Hendrix/Lenny Kravitv neo-soul retro phase and rapping about clinging to his roots while doing Coke commercials, its just funny. More power to him I guess, "make that paper" any way you can. He has to eat just like you and I, but that doesnt make it any less funny from where I'm sitting. I'm just a hater though so fuck what I think.

it's about "keeping it real", and Coca-Cola Classic is the "real thing". plus, he's doing a song with Mya, a collab that probably would've never happened without the advertisers. i honestly haven't given Common much love. I guess now that he has that whole Jimi/Lenny Kravitz persona, he's a lot more marketable to different groups and generations.

im a pretty big common fan. ive dug his shit ever since he used to lover h.e.r. im still feeling the different route he has taken. but with him being such a conscious rapper, i became very disgusted with his promotion for the coka cola corporation. coke has been exploiting third world countries for years and dont give a rats ass about the message common tries to convey about "keeping it real." this company is only out for a profit, and they are using common as part of their exploitation to rank in dough from the r&b masses that listen to mya and the hip hop heads that are down with common.

check out this link that shows some of the fucked up things coca cola has been involved in:

How much does Common's commercial contribute to the damage Coke does?

It doesn't if you ask me.

As for Common, you guys can't front. Everything from Can I Borrow a Dollar all the way up until Like Water For Chocolate was roastin.

Why not promote a company if you like its product? Like Tony Hawk and bagel bites, he said he used to eat them all the time, and now they pay him to say it in a commercial. What's wrong with that? It's not like he never heard of them and just did it for the money. I'm sure common likes coke...so who cares. And about coke and third world countries? C'mon, eloborate. They have bottling plants all over the world, but most of them are owned, kind of like a franchise. They pay coke for the syrup and bottles, and so forth, and bottle and sell it themselves. In Afghanistan, for example, the coke plant is owned and operated (and employs) Afghanis. The owner is mad because some of the public have bocotted Coke, 'cause they equated it to America, but don't understand they're putting Afghanis out of business. But that's another topic. Moral of the story is, Coke is not bad. And it doesn't go against what Common says in his songs.

I dont think he's necesarily doing anything wrong. I just find the "commercialization" of hiphop funny. Some coca cola exec is like "hey common, babe, that was great what you did there, that rapping" and while I wont call him a "sell out" for it Common is trying to cash in on the retro thing. I mean, I drink Coca Cola, I dont really care, but its still funny. It would be like seeing MURS in a Taco Bell commercial or something.

true. my fave common joint was the Soul by the Pound remix (probably because of nostalgic reasons). he seems like a cool cat and all.. i just never really got into his voice (kinda sounds like he has a cold) and just his overall presence. His beats by NoID and Dug Infinite were knockin. I DUNNO. I just was never moved to buy a Common album, but I respect him as an artist and actually do like a lot of his songs. Oh, and I would love to see MURS in a Taco Bell commercial. not really, but that sounds funny.

How do you know if he sold out or not? What if Common drinks a coke every single morning, and he jumped at the opportunity to be apart of a product he utilizes? You don't know.... just give the guy his propers for seeing a buisness opp and taking it.
