View Full Version : So Tampa and Oakland it is.....
That should be a GREAT game to watch. That Tampa D against Gannon and the Oakland Offense should be quite interesting. It can't be worse than last years Superbowl, thats for DAMN sure...
I wonder if the Tampa D line will get to Gannon?
Go Tampa! All though it makes me sick to think Oak will probably be the champions. *pukes violently everywhere*

If the O-Line can protect Gannon the Raiders will be fine. Gannon is much better than McNabb at reading coverages as well as finding and hitting receivers.
I like the matchups in the trenches. Although Tampa didn't allow a sack yesterday, their line is average and not better than the Titan's line. This means we should get some pressure on Brad Johnson, who is a statue compared to McNair. He won't be able to get out of harms way like McNair was able to do. And if the Raiders D can sack McNair twice they shouldn't have a problem with getting pressure on Johnson.
One matchup that's intriguing is a hobbled Woodson on either receiver. He was getting beat bad last night; he can't plant and change directions quickly with that bum leg. I guess the saving grace is the Tampa receivers don't run away from anyone, and the hobbled backs have maintained their recovery speed.
Take care of the football and nullify the roughing penalties (and stop false-starting, Jolley) and the Raiders should win.
Hey Raider fans...
What do you all think about Gruden coming back to CA to coach Tampa in the big dance? He's going to get booed like no other...... i can't wait to see it.

Hell ya, baby... being able to finally hoist that AFC Championship trophy was so dope. But the goal was not to get to the Superbowl, but to win it. Gotta take care of business against Gru & Crew if we want that elusive fourth Lombardi piece.

NEWS AND NOTES
Crowds celebrating the Raiders' AFC championship set a bonfire, threw bottles and rocks and smashed windows along several blocks a few miles from the Coliseum. Police made about 20 arrests after the street violence broke out along International Boulevard. An auto repair shop was burned, and investigators were looking into that fire Jan. 20. Windows were broken on some buses, Alameda County sheriff's officials said. Police closed some areas in an effort to control the violence and used rubber pellets to help disperse the crowd, which was finally broken up by 3 a.m. A hundred extra officers were summoned in anticipation of possible problems after the game.

I bet you were just dying to post that article too, huh... losing sleep at night.
Let it go, larry.. don't be bitter cuz your Purple Pansies had the path to the Superbowl set in 98, but Anderson couldn't split the uprights.
Now that the silver and black is on it's way, the haters are out in full force. It was expected though.

As if its just Raiders fans that do that shit. I'd be surprised, I mean everytime UofA either wins or loses in the NCAA b-ball tournament, Tucson gets looted and burned down, so in my experience, it seems like a large gathering of any fans are prone to mayhem in victory or defeat. So don't act like its just the raiders fans.

Daaaaamn. three and a half ain't shit. Thats nuts. I usually only take the under if it's a mismatch... i'll probably take Oak and the spread if i do bet.
This is gonna be such a good game though. I'm hyped... too bad i i can't stand the Gayders... and Tampa isn't exactly one of my favorite teams either.

The #1 offense takes on the #1 defense, the first time that's ever happened in Superbowl history. With the crescendo of great SB games the past few years, this game may be the most exciting. I predict a down-to-the-wire finish. May the best squad win.
Indeed......
Not only the #1 O/D matchup, but the key matchups as well. Can Sapp and Rice get to Gannon? Can Gannon eat Lynch and Barber for lunch? Many factors.....
It's gonna blow last years SB out of the water. Last year was weakcity.

I beg to differ.. although I was not loving the outcome, the last few minutes of that game were full of suspense. A game winning field goal as time expired... good stuff. Like two years prior, when Mike Jones made the tackle on the one-yardline to win the game. This game is gonna be tight beginning to end though, not just the last few minutes.

the story of the this game will be the dominance of the the raiders defensive line, theyre gunna smash the undersized tampa line, i wouldnt be supprised if it was a shut out...10 points max, raiders will score like 21-24 sumthin like that. tampa has a great defense but there is just too many players to cover, we have too many weapons, everyone could be covered, but you still have richy whos gunna beat cha, or jolly will get open. when you look at this years roster, player for player, you would see that we have a dream team, were like a fuckin pro bowl team and am i the only one that notices that the anouncers(media in general) dont give the raiders their due respect, anyway...

NO, I'm not saying its okay. What I'm saying is that Raiders fans are not the only fans that misbehave after a major victory. I think that it is an aspect of sports which is getting worse everywhere (soccer fans in europe/UK can be vicious). So I think it is ridiculous that you throw it in the face of the raiders fans when they aren't any worse than many of the sports fans in this world. Unfortunately I don't think that this trend of high aggression due to sports is going to end any time soon. But no, I DON'T condone it, I had friends' whose businesses were practically ruined by the assholes that looted their stores in Tucson, so I've witnessed the bad side of this shit. At least no one got hurt, but thats not always the case.
