what i hate about threads like these is that they always remind me of all the albums that i either lost, lent out and never were returned, or never even got. it's like these are all must haves, and i really i only got like a tenth of them.. most of them were lost along with the good part of my tape collection circa 94.

Yep, but some of us resourceful East Bay residing, Beni B on KALX listenin playboys picked up the Euro bootleg at Amoeba back in '94. Elektra refused to release it with the cover art they wanted, and after Subroc got killed Zev refused to change it. But it was finished, and had been SO close to being released that it managed to get leaked even before the days of file sharing. Another record that inspired me to take up DJing...

90-93 is the classic period for hip hop in my opinion. i figure since hip hop is such a young genre, we'll call a classic 10 instead of 20, and we'll knock the antiques down to 15. so that way, it all works out. and i don't see how you'd think somebody would say that isn't a classic because of it's time period, people are posting shit that came out 2 years ago as classic already. and in that case, azeem "craft classic" is a classic. damnit.

I don't know if I would consider Fear of a Black Planet a classic...
People get a little uptight with this topic... like an album isn't officially a classic unless it's ten years old and everybody else agrees with your opinion. Fuck all that... if shit's dope, stays in heavy rotation for a long while and never gets played out, then it's a classic for me. I have no problem calling Koolmotor a classic, and that puppy ain't even two years old yet.
