and people wont even admit it. Sad really..... Fellowship didnt start doing that synchronized "huh, hah!" shit until their second album. And all the crazy, zany almost nonsensical "yabba dabba doo" styles that they were using.... that was ground that had already been covered about 3,000 miles away and a year earlier. They didnt invent "freestyling" either. I'm not gonna sit here and say that FF didnt bring anything new to the table, becuase they did and they deserve, I'd say about 70% of the credit/praise they recieve from undergound hiphop fans. People need to realize though that LONS and Pharoah Monche deserve just as much dick riding as FF does for being innnovators of "style". Busta Rhymes to this day can go flow for flow with any member of FF. Monche too. And back in the early 90's I'd take Monche over any in FF except for Mikah 9 style wise.

in the new elemental magazine there's an interview with aceyalone. during the article they make the same comparison to busta and L.O.N.S. that you just made. being that both groups came out around the same time, its hard to say that one influenced the other. I wouldnt go as far as to say that acey or FF jocked, and now that i think about it, the first LONS album doesnt really have many similarities at all, other than a fast style of rapping. dinco d and charlie brown dont really sound like any of the members of FF. the similarities lie mostly wit busta.

i think you're right.. both crews were heavily influenced by that oldschool singalong style.. j5 as well. around that time, the beats were a lot more uptempo so that could have something to do with the fast rap.

I personally think that FF's stuff is WAY more musical than the other crews mentioned...not to say that those crews are wack...but FF has always had a way of delivering there flows like they were instruments...like a trumpet goin off on an improvised solo...there rhyme patterns remind me of skratch patterns that D-styles or Q-bert would bust...but maybe i smoke too much weed....word..

Naw, you're right, musically FF is above and beyond, especially Micah, but i see no real, honest, similarities to J5 and the FF, besides the fact that they are both dope.

kind of a moot argument. I've been through this discussion a few times before. They did both kinda come out around the same time. And LONS first album had about as much styling as the first FF album. They both came out hard with the styling on their second albums (trust me, I've listened to all four albums religiously for years, and those two groups are my two favorites from their era). However, LONS had the hardcore east coast influence, and their synchronized chorus' and punch ins were not musical like the Fellowship's, they were more on some militant marching band shit. I give equal props to both groups, because they both have qualities that the other doesn't. Another thing I might add is that on the first FF, acey was doing his thing with time signatures while busta was just flipping as many words as he could in between beats. The fellowship has more of a jazz influenced musical style, where I always saw the Leaders as having a militant/ragga influence. If there's any true biting going on, it's everybody rapping fast biting early jazz scat styles and later, Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross. Neither of the two groups invented anything, but both were innovative. That is to say that both groups took different elements of previous musical styles and meshed them into something that sounded fresh on the rap scene.

I agree though, LONS and Monche both deserve more props than they have gotten compared to the props Fellowship has gotten. T.I.M.E. was one of the hardest albums ever. The thing is, on the east coast, you won't find all that many die hard fellowship fans. They mainly have westcoast appeal.

^^ oh shit, were getting quasi hardcore now.

That might actually prove to be pretty entertaining, posting that on the blowed forum. But I'd have to expand it and include a bunch of stuff about CVE biting Bone Thugs and PEACE biting Humpty just to piss people off.

I like FF, I've been a fan since like 93. I dont actually think they bit LONS, I was just saying that to get a rise out of peope, and it didnt really work as well as I thought it would. But my main point was that FF did not "invent style" so while they are very dope, original and talented people should back up off their sacks just a little and that LONS and Monche deserve just as much recognition as FF does for being innovators.
