I don't remember if I commented on this here before or not, but this record kinda pissed me off. See, Hieroglyphics.com was promoting this as a Jive records release, basically insinuating that it was one of the original pressings of the instrumentals by Jive records in the early 90s. That was one of the main reasons I was willing to pay 30+ dollars for it (they charged me 5.50 for shipping but they spent 1.80 on the postage, taxin'!). When I got it, I was a little disappointed to see that the fonts on the labels were those used on the Focus LP that hiero pressed themselves and released independently. I mean, it's all good, I needed these instrumentals regardless, but it seems they were a little shiesty in the way they promoted it and taxed all hard on it. I'm guessing they didn't press too many though, because it's not on their site anymore. Just wanted to get that off my chest. Listening to these instrumentals is dope though, I'm able to really break apart the beats and I noticed some breaks and samples I hadn't noticed before.
On a brighter note, I'm really hyped to see that hiero signed Z-Man (bachelors, 99th dimension) to their new subsidiary label! That's really dope, Z-Man is a dope MC who deserves some good exposure.

Those instrumental LPs aren't all THAT limited... Amoeba had a good stack of em a month ago... for no more than $25 too.

damn, can you order stuff online from amoeba? although access has(d) one copy left and i seen it there forever, he's selling it for $30. i may just have to pick it up if it comes out to be the same price from amoeba. are originals REALLY all that much better? 'live & let live' is the knock. such a sweet piano loop.

no it's the fact that they were trying to jive me (no pun intended) on what they were really selling me. they should have said "we pressed up a couple extra copies of the 93 'til instrumentals" not "we have jive promos of the SOM 93 'til instrumentals" or whatever the fuck. It's principle. I'm glad to have the record either way, but they were straight taxing on that shit. whatever.

They were probably trying to protect themselves. They're probably not supposed to be pressing up the old Jive Records material.

Or maybe they really do overhype it, press up small batches every now and again and then charge a grip talking about how limited it is...
This isn't the first time those have been floating around the past few years.
And no you can't order online from Amoeba. I was in Berkeley a while ago...

heres the deal with 93 til inst. wax
It is the instrumentals of the JIVE release 93 til
(you have to put that for the dummies)
there were no promo inst wax for the lp
only masters that they used for shows
they made a limited quanity and decided
they should sell some on thier site.
as the demand increased they were leaked out
to some of thier direct accounts.
and gunther if you are not happy with the wax
hit me on my e mail and ill take care of you
now only if we can get no need for alarm inst. wax

i don't see where people don't think i'm happy with the wax, i said a lot of times so far that i am very happy to have it. and if they never made promos or tests of it, then they've been pressing them for over 7 years because i remember them a LONG time ago floating around. either way they are gay for taxing so much but it's really good to have these instrumentals. i agree, no need for alarm insts would be REAL nice. even insts of 3rd eye vision would be nice.

I'd cop 'em both in a heartbeat.
Maybe not for $25 per though.
