FEATURED ITEM OF THE WEEK:
Willie Isz (Khujo+Jneiro) - Georgiavania CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17395
Brand new album from Shape of Broad Minds mastermind Jneiro Jarel
aka Dr. Who Dat, as he takes his love for the soulful sounds of
southern hip hop and marries it with his own unique production
style. Once again on Lex Records and now teaming up on Georgiavania
(Georgia meets Pennsylvania) with Khujo (of Goodie Mob) after the
two hit it off with the "OPR8R EP" guest appearance, and together
they form Willie Isz, a name agreed upon after sharing that they
both have fathers with the same first name. Isz comes from the 90's
alternative comics label Image, which spun-off one of its launch
titles into the MTV cartoon The Maxx. So, now that the some of the
creative process of the backstory is out of the way, it's easier to
embrace the album's smooth and futuristic vibe, while they also
attempt to recapture the Dungeon Family sound that Goodie Mob and
fellow Atlanta natives helped introduce to hip hop in the 90's. From
the soulful vocal crooning to the hard hitting southern style
deliveries and the thumping beats, the album is both Fresh and
refreshing, and unlike any other album that has come out this year
and will probably be in a class of its own for quite some time.

NEW RELEASES:

Bibio - Ambivalence Avenue CD/2LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17581
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17582
Ambivalence Avenue/Fire Ant 7"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17741
Bibio's fourth album is also his first on Warp Records after three
previous on Mush Records. The UK producer/instrumentalist (and
sometimes singer early in his career making music) Stephen James
Wilkinson was obsessed with the lo-fi beats, electronica sounds and
ambient styles of Boards of Canada. Using outdated equipment and
natural elements that surround us to come up with ideas for
constructing entirely new soundscapes that combined instrumentation
with perhaps the sounds of things birds chirping or a stream
flowing. But as you evolve and perfect a certain style, you become
restricted, and so it was high time to upgrade, and other newfound
influences like Dilla and Madlib helped mold the album into a
beautiful meeting of music, working it all together create a
soundtrack to a very tall tale in a fantastic world where all music
from all decades live in harmony. Kinda deep, huh? And that's just
what I got from it! Also available is the new seven inch single off
the album: "Ambivalence Avenue" has elements of folk-hop and
psychedelia in the vein of Koushik or Nobody, while "Fire Ant" is a
straight up funky hip hop beat complete with vocal chopped samples
and snippets.

Blaq Poet - Tha Blaqprint 2xCD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17473
Previously when the Blaqout arrived we reported that Blaq Poet was
getting a big push from DJ Premier, and now with the most prominent
release yet from Year Round Records, the rugged Queensbridge emcee
gets what fans were promised as he raps over an entire album's worth
of Preemo beats on The Blaqprint. Led by the first single "Ain't
Nuttin Changed," the album is certain to be the defining moment in a
long career for Poet as he struggled but never gave up in he
underground. Featuring guest appearances by NYGz, Lil Fame of MOP,
and N.O.R.E. This special two-disc edition comes with the
instrumentals!

Domu - One Offs Remixes & B-Sides 2xCD / Springbreak 12"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17713
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17712
It's been over 15-or-so years since a teenaged Dominic Stanton first
pitched up in London's Dollis Hill. He signed to 4Hero's legendary
Reinforced Records with his avant garde drum and bass outfit, Sonar
Circle. The man behind the many monikers has built up a formidable
reputation, DJing all over the world and releasing a total of eight
albums, under various guises and aliases, on labels from Talking
Loud to Ninja Tune. Under the Domu name he found his main niche,
emerging as one of the main players in the world of broken beat and
soulful electronica. The "Springbreak" single collects highlights
from the 2xCD release and previously hard to find cuts.

Dudley Perkins - Fonky Soul 12"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17642
On the Epistrophik Peach Sound comes more space-y, tripped-out P-funk
inspired hip hop produced only in away that Ms. Georgia Anne Muldrow
herself knows how to do (if you've been following her career post-
Stones Throw), and surprisingly this is a more familiar Dudley
Perkins.

Elusive - Open Sessions vol. 3 CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17778
Brand new batch of 25 beats from Elusive! Fully produced and pressed
CD follow up to his successful Open Sessions series!

Harmonic 313 - Battlestar 12"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17734
Also from Warp Records this week is the follow up single from
Harmonic 313's When Machines Exceed Human Intelligence. "Battle
Star" is the only track on his full length instrumental piece
featuring vocals, with fellow Detroit natives Elzhi and Phat Kat!
Now featuring a remix plus the instrumentals to both versions...Heat!

Kurious - II CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17690
Spanish Harlem resident Kurious debuted in '91 on Powerule's "Young
Stars From Nowhere" before signing with Pete Nice (3rd Bass) and
Bobbito (WKCR's Strech & Bobbito Show) under Columbia where they
released his debut album "A Constipated Monkey" featuring production
by The Beatnuts, 3rd Bass & The SD50's. Bobbito would frequently
feature Kurious on WKCR until he became a member of the Bobbito &
Lord Sear CM Famalam show. Since the late 90's Kurious has featured
on a bevy of underground projects from MF DOOM, Del The Funky
Homosapien, KMD, MF Grimm & more. The long awaited official
sophomore album from this underground NYC legend, "II" features
appearances from fellow underground heroes MF DOOM, Max B and a
special reunion with the legendary MC Serch. The album also features
boom bap production from VIC and Platinum selling producer Dame
Grease.

Naledge (Kidz In The Hall) - Chicago Picasso CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17613
Duck Down Records continues to make their presence known as a
powerful and competitive label in underground hip hop as their
releases now stretch beyond their collective Boot Camp members.
Naledge is one half of the group Kidz In The Hall, whose sophomore
album The In Crowd was also put out by Duck Down last year. With
help of course from partner and producer Double O along with Black
Spade, Xcel and Sa-Ra Creative Partners to name a few, Chicago
Picasso is meant to represent the many diverse styles of the Second
City emcee, intentionally compiling it mixtape style to be almost
symbolic of Pablo Picasso's collage-like paintings. Featuring guest
appearances by Jay Electronica, Bun B and more, as well as hosted by
Mike Boogie.

Parker & The Numberman - What About Your Block? DVD-R
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17764
Video single from local San Diego underground duo Parker and The
Numberman. "What About Your Block" takes on the topic of corrupt
cops and raises the question of just how safe are we from the very
laws and enforcement agencies meant to protect us, and how do we
hold them accountable? Hopefully more from this promising act is
soon to follow.

Paul White - The Strange Dreams of... CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17677
Rising to the top of his game in the UK as one of the most innovative
producers on the scene, Paul White's Strange Dreams of...arrives
during a very competitive and evolving time in the instrumental hip
hop market. With so many out there getting compared to the likes of
Flying Lotus it can be hard to make a name for yourself and claim
your own signature style. It is my opinion that comparisons such as
the now cliched Flying Lotus kind are actually what helps others
achieve decent word of mouth, but it must be said that Paul White is
on his own trip inside his own mind. Often sonic and simple but
plenty of progressive styles not heard before, make this album an
enjoyable ride and easy to like. Comes in an extremely limited
edition hand stitched mini-pillow case.

The Pharcyde - Soul Flower (remixes) 12"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17565
Expanding upon last year's Delicious Vinyl RMXXOLOGY project, the
Aaron LaCrate and Debonair Samir remixes of "Soul Flower,"
previously only available on the import version, get the 12" single
treatment with an additional version plus the instrumentals. In an
effort to update some of their greatest hits, RMXXOLOGY was well
received but it also seemed to me that The Pharcyde remixings were
the most adaptable. There's one Bmore themed and another
surprisingly chill version...released on the playfully named
Delicious Gutter label.

Premier - Time For Change CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17238
It might be a little late but this did originally drop around the
time of the Presidential Elections back in November. There are a few
politically motivated songs, but for the most part the "change" is
also meant to pertain to hip hop. Featuring tracks by NyGz,
Termanalogy, Black Milk, Big Shug, Planet Asia, Royce Da 5'9" and
more.

Q-Tip & J Period - Q-Tip: The Abstract Best 12"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17723
A bonus 12" for the fans and fiends looking for a follow up to J.
Periods highly successful tribute mixtape to Q-Tip! Featuring De La
Soul, Dres of Black Sheep and the heavily played "Q-Tip For
President."

Quantic & Combo Barbaro - Linda Morena 7"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17717
First single in the form of a 7" for their upcoming Tradition In
Transition album on Tru Thoughts. Quantic and his new band, the Combo
Barbaro, bring together the worldwide sounds of Latin America, The
Caribbean and Africa for a bold new take on our existing knowledge
of funk, soul and jazz. Heavy on brass and percussion and for fans
of the recently released Nickodemus.

Shad - The Old Prince CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17716
An incredible offering from our neighbors to the North! London,
Canada emcee Shad is sure to get the "Canadian Kanye" comparison but
it is certainly, albeit with the utmost respect, a label he doesn't
want. He would have to be closer to fellow countryman K-os before he
became very experimental. In the North they claim no coasts, and
only wish to remind us that real hip hop in Canada has gone
overlooked for years. Great beats to back up such an intellectual
lyricist and it is yet another big surprise of the week in releases!

Sleep - Hesitation Wounds CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17413
Hesitation Wounds is a vivid and intense journey through the psyche
of one of underground hip hop's longest tenured and most promising
emcees: Sleep of Oldominion and also one half of The Chicharones
with Josh Martinez. This follow-up to Sleep's acclaimed 2005 LP
Christopher, is darker and heavier and shows off his incredible
wordplay and speed on the mic. Features guest appearances by Del the
Funky Homosapien, Grayskul, and boasts the production credits of
Reanimator, Zebulon Dark and Smoke.

Super Chron Flight Brothers - Indonesia 2xCD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17663
Indonesia is a side-project collaboration with Cali-based producer
Marmaduke, first released digitally, but now offered as an extremely
limited (100 copies!) double CD. Priviledge and Billy Woods took a
break from working on Cape Verde, their forthcoming LP, to craft this
experimental collage of hip-hop, dubstep and electronica. The
production was primarily handled by Marmaduke (last seen lacing a
couple bangers for Vordul Mega's latest LP, Megagraphitti), but also
includes Nasa (Uncommon Music/Def Jux), Backwoodz in-house producers
DR. MONOKROME & EssexDogs, and electro-dub impresario Teleseen
(War). The second CD is Marmaduke's instrumentals and different
remixes by all our peoples: BOND, Willie Green, Nasa, Essex Dogs,
A.M. Breakups and Ravage from Monsta Island Czars. It's like an
alternate album almost.

Tash (Tha Alkaholiks) - Control Freek CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17675
Tash drops a banger of a solo with Control Freek coming in ten years
after his 1999 solo debut on Rap Life. Combining equal parts classic
Alkoholiks with his funk inspired West Coast hip hop roots! Not much
more to say but a real surprise for the week. Featuring guest
appearances by J-Ro (of course), King Tee, Del, B-Real, Khujo Goodie
and more, with production by E-Swift, Tony Touch and Oh No to name
just a few.

Various Artists - Shapes 09:01 (with 2xCD) 2LP/2xCD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17715
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17714
The Tru Thoughts label unleashes an amazing compilation celebrating
the artists and music available on their label, providing the
listener with many genres from soul, hip hop, jazz, worldbeat, and
much much more. Featuring Bonobo, The Bamboos, Stonephace, Quantic,
Nostalgia 77, Freddie Cruger and more! For fans of Ubiquity or OM
Records!

Wu-Tang Clan - Chamber Music CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17586
A collection of brand new material and not B-sides or out-takes and
bootlegged material, this is official seal of approval shit!
Combining live instrumentation and a harder boom-bap sound, Chamber
Music is truly a release that fans have been thirsting for with only
one slight problem...as Koch Records claims that the entire Clan is
represented on this release of tracks planned for perhaps originally
planned for unnamed destinations or projects...we're still a few
living members short of what is overall a pretty solid batch of
songs. Other than that, it is a worthy addition to any Wu-fan's
collection! Featuring guest appearances by Havoc, Kool G Rap, Sadat
X, MOP, AZ, Sean Price and Cormega.

Wordsmiths - End of Discussion CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=17779
Just east of San Diego out of Lakeside comes the WordSmiths.
Composed of members Solicit, Jaw Jargon and Enormous, and following
up their first album Aggressive Intellect. Full of battle-style and
storytelling content and a lean on the classic southern California
sound. Featuring guest appearances by Planet Asia and Main Flow.
