I thought I'd start this thread as a follow up to the Boogiemonsters thread.

I know this has probably been done before, but what albums do you feel have been mostly ignored or overlooked?

Here is mine to start with:

Mic Geronimo - the natural

Saw this mentioned on another msg. board and took a chance on it. Never heard of it before. Turned out to be a good move.

Justice System- Rooftop Soundcheck

The most underrated album of all time imo. All the songs on here are golden, "Summer In The City" is an amazing song. If that song doesn't get you pump, than I feel sorry for you.

Bought a copy of Soul Survivor 1 recently. Not sure what I think of it. Some of the production is great, but the hooks could be better. Also, in general I think that these producer themed albums with guest MCs doing the verses tend to be lacking because the guest MCs tend to toss off their lyrics. I think they just save their best stuff for their own LPs. Still, I'm a huge Pete Rock & CL fan, so I'll give it a few more listens. What I'd really like to see is PR hook up with a really good MC who can deliver verses and write good hooks, then just produce their entire LP.

I like the INI album more. Looks like the "lost and found" double cd is out of print though.

Group Home - can't get into them because of the weak MCs.

Haven't heard Camp Lo in years but remember liking them a lot when a friend lent me the cd. "lucini" was all over the radio then. Need to buy a copy of that eventually.

Diamond D came in the mail yesterday but haven't listened yet.

That Nonce album is mindblowing stuff, IMHO.

Cosign completely. The track pick as well.

Probably in my top 3 of 1994 hip-hop albums, and that is one helluva tough top 10 to crack. I'd consider this to be better than Illmatic.

I would have to agree. That was one of my favorite albums of 2008.

To each their own. Deuces Wild is his best work since Cold Vein imo...Look Mom No Hands was a disappointment and Mighty Joseph was decent to me.

Vast sure is. Mighty Joseph lacked in the overall beat department to me, if not for that I would throw it in my list.
