Peace yall,
Needless to say we are witnessing an extraordinary event, one that many of us thought would never come…at least not in our lifetimes. A perfect storm of popular revolt and dictatorial arrogance has led our people to the brink of liberation.
My emotions are torn while following the events in Iran. While part of me wants to see the violence and turmoil end now that the youth/reformists have (to some extent) made their point, my overwhelming desire is that the uprising seizes on the momentum it has created to reach a complete overthrow of the theocracy.
My conflicted emotions are due primarily to the fact that I am sitting safe and sound in California, thousands of miles away from the event I have been waiting my entire life to be a part of. It seems there is little else I can do other than participate in local demonstrations and follow the events in the media.
That is why I wanted to contribute something more to the movement, however insignificant. Iranians around the world and all those who support us must do everything they can raise awareness and show solidarity with our brothers/sisters risking their lives for their/our freedom.
Actually, this song was my father’s idea, because he said I should record something asap that could serve as inspiration to the youth in Iran. It looks like they have all the inspiration they need, but I pray this assures them that we are with them. More so, I hope this song can inspire English-speaking Iranians in the Western world by providing a bridge between their lives and what they are witnessing in Iran.
Please listen and forward this to whoever you can. If you are involved in radio, print, digital or any other form of media, please spread this song as far and wide as you possibly can. If you are in country or city where many people lack Internet access, download this song and burn it for them!! Those fighting in Iran will need our help in the days and weeks ahead to keep the movement alive.
Peace,
I.Sheik
